Trump is threatening the January 6 Capitol Hill riot investigation committee members with prison in the same breath as he insists he will pardon the convicted lawbreakers.
This is the rapidest look at four relevant charts. Liz Cheney, 28 July 1966 11.57pm Washington, DC, with tr Neptune conjunct her Saturn throughout 2025 won’t be anything but uncertain and discouraged in the immediate future. Though her Solar Arc Jupiter conjunct her Pluto and then Uranus late 2026 and 2027 looks like a lucky break of considerable proportions. No telling quite what will lift her spirits but she will be on better form.
Adam Schiff, another Jan 6 Committee member, 22 June 1960 6.13 am Framingham, MA, looks equally undermined in 2025 with tr Neptune Saturn square his Cancer Sun Venus and that extends into 2026 alongside a devastating SA Pluto conjunct his Neptune. He also has tr Pluto square his Mars for a trapped 2025 and continues on to square his Mars/Neptune and then Neptune right through the next administration. None of which he will enjoy.
What is marginally curious -if the dates are sound – are that neither the Proud Boys, 5 September 2016, or the Oath Keepers, 22 October 2009, some of whose members were incarcerated, look cheered. The Proud Boys will be blocked across the Inauguration with tr Saturn square the Mars and although tr Uranus will trine their Jupiter for a hint of cheer before mid year, tr Neptune opposes Jupiter as well for high hopes dented through till early 2026.
The Oath Keepers look even less enlivened with an uncertain tr Neptune opposition the Saturn till early 2026; a muddled tr Uranus square Neptune later this month to mid March 2025; a seriously blocked and aggravated tr Pluto opposition their Mars in 2025/26; and tr Saturn Neptune square the Pluto undermining their influence in 2025/26.
Some political commentators have been suggesting some of Trump’s attention may well be caught up in how he will want to be remembered in the history books. Maybe this will temper his deeds rather than his words which might explain some of Marjorie’s comments re:the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers and perhaps even Liz Cheney?
Time magazine has named Trump ‘Person of the Year’.
‘Time gave Trump the honor because he marshalled “a comeback of historic proportions, for driving a once-in-a-generation political realignment, for reshaping the American presidency and altering America’s role in the world.” ‘(TMZ)
So……….!
Largesse, nothing more, the press showing proskynesis.
When the administration changes again, the WH hoists the Jolly Roger 😉
Ahem….Hitler was on the cover of TIME magazine as ‘Man of the Year’ in 1938? Just saying….
Doom scrolling engenders brain rot! Speculation is mostly fruitless. All mouth and trousers is the British version of all hat no cattle. In Dutch the expression is the soup is never served as hot as it looks.
The universe was born from chaos. It is the state of energy flux necessary for new creations. So let’s buckle up and enjoy the ride. Unless it affects you personally and directly it’s all free entertainment. It could be argued that as a European it’s easy for me to say that but I also have family and friends in the US. They too are concerned but are taking the ‘let’s wait and see’ approach. Past history suggests that ultimately not much will change under Drumpf II but that the conditions will be created for future change. For me this is what I would expect from a Pluto return.
‘All fur coat and no knickers’ is another, more vulgar version, usually said of a woman.
Trump can invoke the Insurrection Act of 1798 against his perceived domestic enemies and install martial law on Day One, with tanks rolling in the streets and little or no judicial control. He can use the FBI and the Justice Department to harass and hack Democratic congressmen and senators. His executive orders can change American society almost overnight. They will be far in excess of the law but will take years to wind through the judicial system with no positive outcome guaranteed. Meanwhile, they will be enforced. Right now, I think many Americans are understandably in denial over what is to come soon. Dramatic events around the Mars-Pluto opposition of January 3 should be a wake-up call.
Andre! There you go again. You need to get your paranoia under control. It may not be pleasant but Trump does not signal the end of times.
@Marjorie
Like they say in Texas “it’s all hat and no cattle” and that pretty much sums up Trump in a nutshell
My take is prepare for the worst, just in case, but hope for better. His last administration — and his current transition as well — was characterised by constant infighting, incompetence, grifting and corruption, which doesn’t play well with the public suffering from continuing inflation and loss of purchasing power. Most of his choices for his cabinet, like the Christian Nationalist Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense, are especially unqualified and, even if confirmed, will encounter major push-back.
I’m expecting a huge amount of chaos and opposition to his proposals which the thin margins in the Congress won’t be able to impose, as well as opposition from the business community to his tariffs and mass deportation of their essential workers, especially in agriculture, construction, healthcare and hospitality.
Even many of his own judges retain a sense of judicial right and have ruled against his excesses and extreme legal demands.
Yes, he can do a lot with executive orders — especially produce chaos, which he thrives on.
The other key question is how long his tenuous health holds up, both mental and physical. And J.D. Vance, who would take over from him, is likely more competent but also unpopular.
So — wait and see, and gird for widespread opposition.
Agree Marjorie, I’m sometimes appalled at what a few here conjure up. None of this will happen. Trump will probably issue pardons and I especially hope so for the couple going to prison today for the simple act of praying outside the gates. Many other similar stories.
@Maggie: Concur w/Anita’s take. All hat and no cattle… 😉
He wants to dbl down on removing birthright citizenship…but that’s a Constitutional amendment change. Not a simple “squeeze ’em till they squeal ” reaction. Road race meets brick wall.
But he can certainly create havoc in other venues.
@larryc, the law isn’t going to stop him any more.
Look how the SCOTUS handled the immunity ruling.
Jack Smith asked them to rule on it pre-emptively, but they took their time before they had oral arguments then waited until the very end of the court’s session plus a day (July 1st) to issue the ruling.
Trump can do whatever he wants and with all of the Trump appointees on the federal bench it will take years to hear any challenge to his actions.
Larry, there is nothing wrong with trying to remove birthright citizenship. We are the only country in the world that has it and it’s a way to skip the process that millions have gone thru to become a legal citizen. My daughter’s best friend from college just became a citizen by doing it the correct way. When you sneak across the border and expect Americans to pay for your food, housing, medical care, you need to go. As far as deportations, Trump will start with the 1.3 million who already have deportation orders. And let me just add that Bill Clinton deported 12 million illegals. Media silent.
Barack Obama deported 3 million illegals. Media silent.
Donald Trump ran on closing the border and sending illegals home and the media brands him a racist and a Nazi.
And let’s not forget the toll the cartels have taken with the fentanyl pouring into this country and the children being trafficked across the border. Mexico will do nothing about it as the cartels are in charge, not the government. And the homelessness that is rampant in every American city is a fentanyl/drug problem, not a housing problem.
@Maggie: birthright
Here is a link showing the many countries allowing birthright citizenship. The US is not the “only” country; in fact the North and Sounth American continents share that commonality.
@Roderick: not gonna discuss the matter in an astro blog.
“RFK’s personal attorney Aaron Siri, who has been helping Donald Trump’s nominee for secretary of health and human services interview candidates for top health jobs, has sued the Food and Drug Administration to withdraw its approval for the polio vaccine, The New York Times reported.
Siri and Kennedy have also been asking candidates their views on vaccinations, suggesting that if confirmed, Kennedy—who for years has peddled debunked conspiracy theories about vaccines causing autism—would stack the HHS and the agencies it oversees with fellow anti-vaxxers, the Times reported.”
All hat ‘n no cattle, of course. Just reassuring voters will get what they voted for, presumably.
Marjorie, Andre’ isn’t being paranoid.
Trump is going to spread chaos all over America with his deportation plans.
Missouri is already proposing to deputize its citizens as migrant bounty hunters by paying residents $1000 for reporting illegal immigrants to authorities.
Now we’re turning into the old Soviet Union where neighbors reported each other to the government.
Andre, you make me curious about what in your chart gives you this propensity to go so deep and intense. 🙂
I suggest we check-in again on this 2 years from now, just prior to the US Gemini return. I hope my intuition is proved wrong too.
Larry, I pray you are right, but with the Trumpist-heavy Supreme Court, I fear his worst extrajudicial impulses may be upheld.
Calm down and let’s see what unfolds. 😉 He still has to follow due process.
“Keep Calmala !”
From ‘The Art of the Deal’, by one DJT:
“The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people’s fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole. It’s an innocent form of exaggeration, and a very effective form of promotion.”
So there you have it. Mr Uranian Trickster’s not so secret philosophy! And here’s a Gemini nugget:
“I never get too attached to one deal or one approach. For starters, I keep a lot of balls in the air, because most deals fall out, no matter how promising they seem at first.”
Unless he is going to call some kind of kangaroo court, or lock them up without any form of trial which of course will show that the US is really bordering on becoming a dictatorship, I call his bluff = all talk
And of course I could be very wrong but my gut says not. If I am wrong then I pray for the US and there will be mass emigration to follow
Trump could closed the borders w/o cause…invoking some kind of national crisis or executive order for folks to show cause to leave. Most americans would simply “take vacation” and not return. It’s that easy.
I did read on BBC News yesterday I think that he said in an interview he is going to hit the ground running and will be signing many exec orders from day 1 in the chair (paraphrased of course).
Same here. He can issue executive orders…but if they conflict w/existing legal protocols, he’ll find it difficult to gain traction. Throwing people in jail is only bully-boy stuff. Then they’ll be freed for lack of due cause or denial of due process.
He talks a lot (look at how I’ll drain the swamp) but has few accomplishments.
“Hit the ground running” Has anyone actually observed him to hit the ground running…? 😉
Loool …. too funny 🙂 Maybe hit the ground but not running @larryc 🙂
