J.D. Vance – Trump picks a junior version ++ Birth time

In picking J.D. Vance as VP Trump is doubling down on Maga – the nearest thing he could find to a ‘mini-me.’ Vance is a  deep sceptic of Nato, a critic of globalization, a believer in the existence of the deep state, which he wants to dismantle, opposes providing US military aid to Ukraine, is a fan of Hungary’s Viktor Orbán and a darling of that transatlantic far-right circuit. He has put his energy behind selling the Heritage Foundation-organised Project 2025.

Commentators reckon that opting for Vance is a sign that Trump is feeling ‘very bullish’ and not concerned about appealing to wavering suburban female Republicans who worry about the anti-abortion GOP lobby.

One remarked: “It is not hard to depict Vance as a rank opportunist who saw obeisance to Trump as the only path forward in today’s Republican party. There are also Vance’s close ties to Silicon Valley money. His 2022 Ohio Senate campaign was largely funded by Peter Thiel, the west coast venture capitalist and early Trump adopter. Vance’s selection was greeted enthusiastically by Elon Musk, a friend of Thiel, who only endorsed Trump two days earlier following his near miss in Pennsylvania.”

Vance was born 2 August 1984 at 8.11 am (according to astrologer Steve Stuckey who called the county office of vital records to find the data and get the time. He has ordered the birth data and it will then appear on Astrodatabank.)

This gives him a late Leo Ascendant with a 12th house Sun Leo in an exact square to a determined and obsessive Saturn in Scorpio in his 3rd house. He also has intense Pluto in his 3rd which will make him stubborn, dogmatic and inclined to overstate his opinions. He has a 1st house Mercury in Virgo on the focal point of a Mutable T square to Uranus in his 4th opposition a 10th house North Node which will make him scattered, at times disorganized and can lead to changeable views  and may have led to his flip flopping over Trump-first against, then not.

His Venus in Leo is trine Neptune in final degree Sagittarius and sextile Pluto – so he will be able to turn on the charm when required. His Venus is also square a determined Mars in Scorpio on his IC hinting at a less than sensitive temperament and one who can bear grudges.  His childhood home looks troubled with an argumentative Mars and changeable Uranus there.

A Libra Moon in the 2nd makes him money conscious and fairly snobbish, liking elegant people and manners. Jupiter in his 5th – confident in performing, though Jupiter conjunct Neptune can be scandal prone or at least overly optimistic. A substantially lower hemisphere chart suggests a subjective approach, a more inward, private personality, so not standard for a public career.

Trump’s Mars in on his Ascendant so Vance will feel DT’s flamboyant showmanship will boost his image, though it will also resonate with his heated childhood since DT’s Mars squares his 4th house Mars in Scorpio. DT’s Pluto is conjunct his Sun giving no doubt as to who is in the driving seat with Vance well under his thumb; though Vance’s Saturn may prove a stumbling block since he may bite his tongue but doesn’t get pushed around easily. DT’s 2nd house profligate Jupiter is conjunct Vance’s 2nd house Moon so money will be an attraction for Vance.

Their relationship chart has an argumentative and competitive composite Sun square Mars; with the Sun trine an over hopeful (not always straightforward?) Neptune, Moon, Jupiter conjunction. Plus a high-tension, locked-together composite Uranus, Saturn, Pluto conjunction. Presidents often don’t get on with VPs but Trump in particular will get rattled by anyone who looks like competition.  The composite Moon Jupiter sits on the IC on the cusp of the 4th so there will be a degree of comfort between them in private.

Tr Uranus will oppose the composite Jupiter late October to late November – which could be lucky and a relief, but since Jupiter is tied into Neptune, it could also bring high hopes tumbling down. Tr Uranus is then conjunct their composite Midheaven late December to mid March 2025 which could change the trajectory of their partnership – but Uranus being the wild card it is, there’s no saying whether that leads towards the White House or not. Tr Saturn is also opposing the composite Uranus, Saturn, Pluto late October into December and on till February 2025 which will be pressured and challenging.

The birth time gives Vance, like Trump, transiting Jupiter moving across his 10th house now till mid 2025 which is usually successful or at least high profile.  Tr Uranus is square his Venus late December to mid March 2025 which could be an emotionally exciting- or upsetting – phase. Plus tr Pluto sextile his upbeat Jupiter/Pluto midpoint through January across the Inauguration but that is mild; and alongside it runs tr Pluto trine his Sun/Mars, Venus/Saturn and Mars/Uranus midpoints which are equally mild and not exactly encouraging -though it would be a pressured time if they won.

  None of which is decisive.

His wife Usha Vance, 6 January 1986, San Diego, is an ambitious Sun Venus in Capricorn with Neptune Mercury also in Capricorn and a super-determined Mars Pluto in Scorpio.  She looks over hopeful through September to mid October with tr Neptune in hard aspect to two Jupiter midpoints which usually ends in disappointment. But she looks upbeat through January across the Inauguration with tr Pluto conjunct her sociable Venus/Jupiter midpoint – and even more so in February/March onwards with tr Pluto conjunct her Sun/Jupiter midpoint – so something is going right.

On a quick flip round Trump cheerleaders at the GOP Convention –

Mike Johnson looks upbeat and confident in November and successful as well as relieved late December to mid March 2025.

Ron Desantis – upbeat and confident through January 2025 though oddly aggravated and stuck at the same time.

Marco Rubio panicked up to late November and under huge pressure in January 2025.

Tiffany Trump – frustrated, blocked late November to end December, high tension across late December to mid March. Her husband Michael Boulos – nerve wracked late November to late December and not hopeful. But confident and winning through January 2025.

Donald Trump Jnr and Lara Trump have confidently upbeat transits to a Jupiter midpoint late this December to mid March 2025. Though Eric Trump and Barron are showing extreme frustration and disappointment.

Ivanka, Jared and Melania you can read either way – since they could be as relieved by a loss as a gain.

Jared is certainly stuck and frustrated till late November and undermined before then.

Ivanka is panicked at the moment and not winning with a series of tricky transits to midpoints right through to the Inauguration and beyond.

Melania, looks into calamity country late December to mid March 2025 and seriously stuck before then. Bouncing more enthusiastically from March 2025 onwards – maybe she is free!

All a muddle of yays and nays.

On Trump shooting – he is playing up the angle that God intervened to save him which will  prompt evangelical Americans to feel duty bound to heed the Almighty’s election call. It also pumps up his narcissistic belief that he is ‘The Chosen One’ who has been given a shield of immortality by the gods. But as Greek mythology was always quick to point out – hubris is the deadliest of sins. At some point the jealous gods will cut the mere human down to size. ‘Memento mori’ (= remember you will die) murmured in the ear of rulers was not a threat but a reminder that they were human.

Other stray astro-thoughts as I contemplate a chance that Trump might see the benefit of tr Jupiter through his 10th to win. Maybe, might, on its own not a slamdunk. His Trump Media & Technology company, owners of Truth Social has been given a boost by recent events. But looking to future years Truth Social, 21 February 2022, is in dire trouble, certainly by 2026, and not looking great in 2025. Devin Nunes, the CEO, is bullishly confident but again running into terminal collapse territory  in 2026/27.

The Heritage Foundation, 16 February 1973, promoter of Project 25, looks over hopeful this year with SA Neptune conjunct the Jupiter; and into disaster territory by 2026/27 with a blocked SA Pluto square Sun; and tr Saturn Neptune opposition its Pluto and square its Mars.

Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, started his term of office on 1 December 2021 – which looks unpopular September to late November this year, though with an upbeat few weeks as well through November, (and April 2025) with tr Uranus square the Jupiter; but that apart is mired in devastating confusion late November to late December this year – and facing colossal setbacks into 2025/26.

Wiki has a few thoughts on Russian finance for Trump Media.

I am trying not to be too definitive since the astrology as per usual is mixed. But if Trump did win, his cohorts are running into cataclysmic decline in the years following.

  1. To me personally, they don’t look like they “belong” with each other as Pres/VPres.should. Something so off about them together, like they will pull apart, more than join w/each other. Maybe Trump’s Mars on Vance’s Asc.?

    • I thought that too. It came to me that mostly I don’t like Vance because he threw his mother under the bus. Also if you look at his old interviews about his book, he refers to “his people” as if they are foreign to him, like he’s studying them as an OUTSIDER. His book made it seem like people in rural communities are all drug addicts, with no future and are totally unsuccessful in life. That would not go over with the many conservative voters in rural areas and is not true. Trump would have done better to choose a less aspirational one term VP with some charisma. I feel like he’s a pre-packaged item.

        • Seem to remember that throughout his last presidency Trump fell out with almost every one of his appointees from Sloppy Steve Bannon to Scaramucci, from Michael Flynn to Tom Price – I mean his list of firings has its own Wiki page. I expect this one will be no different.

      • I’ve lived in rural communities since 1999, and I hate to admit it, but JD Vance is correct about the drug addiction problem. I could not and would not let my children go play at any of the neighborhood kids’ homes because the parents were unsafe. I didn’t allow sleepovers at my home because I didn’t want my husband to be accused by one of the little girls of anything, because these kids would act out things that children shouldn’t know about and to me went beyond experimentation. It was really really bad. When we first bought our home, I would wonder why thie woman with eight kids two doors down in the apartments would rarely send her children to school, when it would drive me insane having them home all day, and the poor children as well. it was because she was sleeping off a long meth binge. I tried calling protective services and they just passed the ball to the school and back and forth and did nothing about this. Additionally, you can really see this in evidence where industries have left town and there’s nothing to replace it.. The pillar of the town that we lived in that had a population of 715 people was an ex-convict woman who would come to your house if she knew you went to the doctor or dentist to see if you had any pills that she could beg from you.. It was ridiculous. Being from the Great lakes region, and a big city, the rural poverty drug addiction and child abuse was really shocking to me.in the Pacific Northwest – a quote unquote Progressive state. Sorry that this isn’t astrology and I understand if it doesn’t make the comment page. Thanks, Marjorie

        • ” the rural poverty drug addiction and child abuse was really shocking to me.in the Pacific Northwest”

          Sounds like a threaded issue.

So, what should be done about this “rural” problem?

    • I hesitated to post this, but now with Joe Biden announcing the discontinuance of his campaign, at least Kamala Harris won’t need to be concerned about debating JD Vance.

My public library lent me JD Vance’s autobiography which I read after it was first published. Coming from a working class background, and with my parents many times having violent arguments, I was familiar with some aspects of his life. In fact, many people experience similar environments. My recollection was that the book was initially very whiny and ended with him becoming very preachy. I read a lot of autobiographies, and I didn’t recall anything special about this one, certainly not the best seller it became at the time. I reviewed his planets and signs as I like to learn more about the author. What he never mentions, and what makes him like Donald Trump, is that both of them experienced luck, which is not everyone’s situation. Without his Mercury and Jupiter, and tied in with some push from Pluto, otherwise, he still might be knocking on the doors of publishers, and if published, the book might have sold a handful of copies. I could see where he was very ambitious and driven towards power. These Scorpio and Leo planets, (along with his Moon in Libra making him a “smooth operator”), provided him with inroads to venture capitalists. The other side of Libra, however, is the convincing liar. (See Marjorie’s reference to Trump’s “mini me” and Kamala Harris’s concern about debating him as he easily deflects everything, including comments he previously stated about Trump.) Note that his foray into creating programs to help his community fell through, because it really isn’t who he is. I keep returning to the Vance and Trump squares, however wide, because Leo and Scorpio are not truly happy together in the long run– at least I’ve never seen it. In the end, now with two Leo ascendants together, who will sit on the throne? Will there be enough air in the room for the both of them? This also may have been the reason why Vance initially criticized Trump. I don’t see Vance remaining behind the scene, and as the loyalist which Trump is seeking.

  2. Trying not to comment too much, as I don’t know what will happen. This is probably safe to say. I got into a big argument with my economics professor at Boston University where I was taking my MBA. The topic was off shoring, the year was 2002. Certain demographic in that classroom thought nothing of shuttering a plant, laying everyone off, and taking the business off shore because it was cheaper to Manufacture. I fought him over it, as he was all about globalization. I was focused on the human cost and what it was doing to people’s lives. He was like “Oh Well” they will find another job. Or not. The human cost has been high. I am still grumbling about it via emails with former class mates. I have lived through this – gone through multiple plant closures – last count it was three. It decimates a local economy.

Now Dr Robert Reich has done a whole series of articles on how off shoring like that directly gave rise to Trump and the populist movement.

It also empowered China, and they did not come into the fold. One of those “It seemed like a good idea at the time”, but it has had consequences.

I have been fussing about Leonard Leo for years – so won’t say anymore about that.

      • Pretty sure it wasn’t Dr Reich. As I recall, it was Larry Summers. If people shop at Walmart for cheap Chinese goods – they are driving this. Also – it was the rise of Jack Welch culture driven by Wallstreet. We see the direct result of this attitude with the Boeing Fiasco. I remember arguing with a young person in that MBA program (She was 24) and she was all about maximizing Shareholder Value, and all I could think was – all well and good until it happens to you. I survived the IBM layoffs – those were awful- out of a 400,000 person company they laid off 200,000 people. The 6000 person facility I was at, does not exist anymore.

The social contract is broken – and it has given rise to Trump. There are deaths of despair in middle America.

Thanks for the article – I will give it a read. Looking forward to seeing what it says. Don’t forget we had NAFTA as well.

      • Hi Anna, that was a good article. Thanks for the share. Worth the read.

This is what the Department of Labor does –
“The Department of Labor (DOL) administers federal labor laws to guarantee workers’ rights to fair, safe, and healthy working conditions, including minimum hourly wage and overtime pay, protection against employment discrimination, and unemployment insurance.”

    • LizM, wise words on offshoring! Nicely explained. As is always the case voice of reason is always in minority.
Thank you for sharing your insights!
      Cheers,
      Mak

  3. From addition of the birth time;

“A Libra Moon in the 2nd makes him money conscious and fairly snobbish, liking elegant people and manners. Jupiter in his 5th – confident in performing, though Jupiter conjunct Neptune can be scandal prone or at least overly optimistic. A substantially lower hemisphere chart suggests a subjective approach, a more inward, private personality, so not standard for a public career.”

Money conscious and snobbish – supports his strong distaste of helping Ukraine…or any other country in dire need. Scandal prone? Scarey…watch out for him being affected or drawn into Drompf’s lust for life with Vance coming from the po’ boy Ohio countryside. Perhaps also a staid religeous filter applied to the outer world.

I wasn’t aware that Ohio is considered Appalachia? I’m from Pennsy. We had other opinions but certainly not one of Appalachian rags. Can other East Coasters help out?

    • Parts of it are. Eastern Kentucky is very mountainous, and is Appalachia. Across the river from Kentucky is Ohio. The mountains start in Georgia and go all the way up into Maine, but what is traditionally called Appalachia are the poorer areas in NC, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, parts of Virginia, West Virginia especially. Not all parts are bad – but many are. Tennessee was very poor then WW2 came and they put part of the Manhattan Project over by Knoxville (the Germans will never look for it here). That now employees 15,000 people – large lab, plus the University. Tennessee is also one of the reddest states in the Nation. I lived on the East Coast for 30 years and came back here for a few years due to personal reasons.

Ohio was deindustrialized by the Car Manufacturing crises from Detroit – and there were consequences. Eastern Kentucky has never industrialized – but I knew people from there coming here to get an education. Joe Manchin is a good example of that region.

Wikipedia actually has a good article. A lot of the Scots-Irish ended up settling the region.

  4. From the BBC:

“Several supporters of former President Donald Trump wore bandages on their ears to the third night of the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Members of the RNC’s Arizona delegation said they were wearing the bandages as a sign of solidarity with the former president after he survived an assassination attempt.
One supporter said she had bandaged her own ear to help Mr Trump “set a new fashion statement” and to let him know “how much we love him”.

    World’s gone mad.

    • And on it goes, with more summer chaos to come I fear.I’m looking at the August full Moon at 27 Aquarius, square Uranus, opposition Sun/Mercury in Leo at 27 degrees. Depending on timings, some charts for the USA have a 27 Aquarius Moon (the people). The Leo Sun/Mercury sit between Trump’s Mars and ascendant, so something showy and high energy there? Yet surprising or disruptive with Uranus? Trump is a disruptive Uranian figure, which could partly explain why he copes with chaos so well. Joe Biden’s natal Sun is 27 Scorpio.
Nodes, 29 Leo/Aquarius, linking the two men together in those late fixed degrees, and perhaps in some fateful way too.
Trump’s natal Uranus is 17 Gemini. On the same day as that full Moon, there’s the Jupiter in Gemini square Saturn in Pisces at 17 degrees. Mars is just passed, at 19 Gemini (heading for a Gemini Mars return in the USA chart), Venus at 17 Virgo adds emphasis to the mutable mayhem. Perhaps there are legal or legislative overtones to this? This is also the day the Democratic Convention is scheduled to begin. Joe Biden’s MC is 19 Virgo.

We’ve one month to go until 19th August. I think it looks like the maddest rollercoaster ride!

      • And a little spooky ‘coincidence’ shows Trump’s father, Fred Trump (11 October 1905) has Nodes 27 Leo, with Saturn in Aquarius 26, conjunct the ‘karmic’ South Node at 27 Aquarius. It would appear as if something is coming to the boil in the Trump family.

        • And also, that influential figure Barack Obama, 4 August 1961 – Uranus 25 Leo, North Node 27 Leo, MC 28 Scorpio. The full Moon is right on Obama’s South Node, linking with the past, Biden’s Nodes, with Obama’s MC conjunct Biden’s Sun. What connects Trump, his father, Biden and Obama? That intense Aquarian full Moon may shine a light.

          • WaPo is saying that Obama is saying that Biden’s path to winning re-election has been seriously diminished and Nancy Pelosi (Mars 25 Taurus) also expressing doubts.

    • Lara Trump is on the ascendancy while Jared & Ivanka have kept their distance according to reports I’ve read. There’s an article about her on the BBC news today.

      • Thanks! I think Eric and Barron would be upset by either a win or a loss, as well. They seem to be marginalised in general and don’t seem to have a good relationship with dad. March seems to be pivotal watershed month for us.
Andre Barbault said 2025 is best astrology of the entire century. My astrologer said 2025 will be our saving grace. I don’t know the where’s and whys for that.

      • Am wondering how a 29 55 degree Leo ASC and a 28 45 degree Leo ASC produce a 2 degree Virgo composite ASC?

Also what is going on with Virgo men? First Starmer and now Vance.

  5. JB- my transit meant hopes and dreams destroyed, -secondary infertility. I was in a fog about it and did not deal with the reality about it. My moon is in the 5th. Even had a med emergency involving a water procedure. So literal. Neptune exactly conj Venus at same degree in my chart so Neptune is very predominant for me. Please don’t worry too much. I bet that I’m an outlier. I’m still standing. 🙂

      • If your Moon and Neptune are in positive aspect – trine or sextile – in your natal chart then a transiting opposition between them is unlikely to be difficult, quite the opposite in fact, which might be a comfort.

If, on the other hand they in a hard aspect in your natal chart – square or semi-square – which I’m guessing Aim’s might be, then the transiting opposition will be more difficult. At least you can be prepared for the challenge if that’s the case.

    • What tensions there are tonight and this weekend. That Moon is conjunct Pluto, sextile Neptune and trine Uranus 26 Taurus. Pluto and Neptune make (I think) a yod with Mercury at 26 Leo – that degree area again. Fixed stars Algol and Scheat both present too. Whatever the story of this Moon is, I think it could be an opening chapter – while closing one at the same time. The Moon has horns – for the First Nations it’s a Buck Moon, named for male deer’s antlers. Otherwise, the Sea Goat or Goat Fish is there. Combative horns, but a fishy tail as well…..

  6. Vance’s wife’s birthdate from Wikipedia: Usha Chilukuri January 6, 1986 San Diego County, California, U.S. I’m not a skilled astrologist, so I’m wondering if Marjorie or someone else could look at what his wife’s astrology might add to the picture.

    • She had the Pluto conjunct Sun transit mid 2010’s perhaps. That could have been challenging depending on the house. Not sure about dates for that. An ephemeris would help. That transit might have been near to her wedding date. Their law school professor played matchmaker which I found surprising. That prof, Amy Chua, wrote a book about tiger moms and IIRC, one of her daughters is a clerk for Kavanaugh. But maybe professors do get involved much more personally with students these days. I sat in on a law school class when I was considering applying. I thought the atmosphere was very formal and that particular prof did not seem like he would ever kibbutz with the students. But, who knows.

  7. Apparently the data on J D Vance’s birth time has been acquired, it’s 8.11 AM, which gives a Leo Ascendent.
I find it interesting that such a public figure has no planets in the 3rd or 4th quadrant.

    • I use Whole-Sign house division so my observation about the quadrants is true for that, but not if you use Koch or Placidus etc.

        • Hi Aim. Highly significant I think are transiting Neptune and Pluto both quincunx his Ascendent thus forming a Yod right now and continuing through November and December, but this transit is true whichever house division one uses.

In Whole-Signs Pluto is on the cusp of his 7th (open enemies) now and continuing for a few months. Jupiter is moving through his 11th – ‘the house of Good Fortune’, friends, supporters, benefactors, and beneficial fate.

          • Thanks. Those travelling yods are interesting and usually result in a betwixt and between indecisive patch. Hmm interesting.

          • Hi. Well, yes-he has SO much support from Thiel, Musk and the Heritage Foundation and I’m sure other groups. Wouldn’t Neptune indicate illusions and delusions? Or is that only with oppositions? My Neptune opposite moon transit was so awful, much worse than Pluto conj sun. So, nothing significant for 10th house career?

          • Stepping aside this subject a moment, I’m curious about Aim’s experience of the Neptune opp Moon transit. That’s 4 years down the line for me, as I’m just leaving 2 years of Pluto conj Sun myself.

          • As far as the 10th house in the Whole-Sign horoscope is concerned Uranus is hovering around his MC, which seems to suggest new opportunities and changes.

(I’m approaching this from a ‘traditional astrology’ angle, which is a bit different to modern astrology and solar-arc directions etc, though it overlaps, but I greatly appreciate Marjorie’s far greater knowledge and expertise in these. I am just an amateur.)

    • If the time is correct the lower hemisphere emphasis may describe what appears to be his Isolationist position. No interest in Europe for example

      • You could be right there; Bil Tierney talks of the independence and self-centredness of an emphasised (especially Sun and Mars) 1st quadrant, and then of the 2nd “one who does not readily recognize and/or assimilate different viewpoints than his own without feeling a threat to his established security needs”.

  8. Vance has a quintile between his Sun and Moon. Also a sextile between his Pluto and Neptune. He may see politics as a joint venture between spirituality and rulership? If anyone has read the Silks Road, they will see that Religion was used by both the rulers in Rome and the Middle East to create a strong hold over their followers. In some ways, he is just carrying on an old tradition. As the Roman Empire died , political religious order stepped in.The same with Middle Eastern leaders. Both used it to coalesce their people.

    • Not sure I want to become “coalesced”. Also quite certain not to be held strongly by prevailing religion of ruling powers 😉

    • You are right Helen. There is a thing with Christian Nationalism going on right now, and it needs to be on everyone’s radar. There are believers who really think the book of revelation is going to happen. I purchased Dr Elaine Piagels (Princeton) book on Revelation as an antidote to some of what I am being exposed to down here as it is too dark for me. But, there are ideas afoot, and some are not life affirming. I am a believer- but in the context of Jungian/James Hillman/The value of Astrology. I know people here who have a literal interpretation of the Bible, as does the Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. It is a mindset. It informs Project 2025 and what they hope to accomplish.

      • We need to remember that Neptune can lie. I have Neptune in my 4th house in a Tsquare with Mars and Jupiter with Neptune as a focal point. Years to work through some of this. Astrology was a god-Send, as was Erin Sullivan who took one look at my chart and pronounced “Religious Wars”. Which is true- it is why the Ancestors Fled the old country. And now? Here we go again.

  9. I’m wondering if there’s a strong chance the DNC Convention will get pushed back a week from the original start date of August 19th. Because I gather that Biden is supposed to have a bad period the entire last week of August.
    Very curious.

  10. JD Vance is awful. Democrat Tim Ryan was definitely by far the better candidate for Senate in Ohio, but he lost by a narrow margin. Another shortfall like Trump’s near miss this past weekend that totally could have altered the course of history. Vance in this regard seems to get as many undeserved breaks from the universe as Trump does.

The one redeeming quality of Vance is that he doesn’t seem to have anything remotely approaching the quality of enthrallment that Trump has over the Republican Party. Whatever the outcome of this election, and whenever Trump exits the scene, Vance will not be able to fill his shoes, and the party will break down into factions.

Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Peter Thiel–Vance’s deep-pocketed benefactor–has gotten his money’s worth and then some this cycle. Between Thiel and Elon Musk, we seem to be witnessing the ultimate last-ditch grab for power by the billionaires backing Trump as Pluto makes its final retrograde back into Capricorn.

I remain unconvinced that they are going to be able to do much once Pluto moves firmly into Aquarius. If Trump loses, the Republican Party completely implodes. If he wins, they face massive opposition from an outraged Democratic base who would no doubt be seething from Biden’s ultimate failure and their worst fears imagined.

    • @Clarence, yes, I agree with you on Vance. I also loved how an Italian Liberal newspaper “Corriere della Sera” columnist wrote we should watch out for Vance, because he more dangerous than Trump because of this education and views. This columnist is generally absolutely rubbish in “reading the room” when it comes to Americans.

  11. Trump seems to be more teflon-coated than even President Reagan; and I agree with your other posters that Mr. Vance is Trump’s mini-me!

With all that’s going on, it was just (under)reported that Judge Cannon has dismissed the documents case; can you please read on that subject; because, from what I’ve read, it is the strongest, legal case against Mr. Trump. Thanks!

  12. I think Donald is gambling here, this guy may well be more popular than him. James Vance, reminds me a lot of Eric Trump, is this what Donald saw?

  13. He recently converted to Catholicism. My Midwestern MAGA relatives are avowedly anti-Catholic. I wonder if this will put them off enough to stay home.

    • Aim: curious comment. I’m Roman Catholic, Latin rite. To the annoyance of most Christians, I occasionally sing out the Mass in Latin. 😉 Or else I’ll say something like, “No thanks; I’m cutting back on receipts. Gave ’em up for Lent…”

Just another flavor of how we engage with our belief systems. Consider Pascal’s Wager…

      • Hello Larry. Maybe JDV’s date of conversion can shed light on houses for his chart.
I’m Catholic but have hidden it from my husband’s family (we had a secular ceremony since my husband is an atheist). It is so sad that I have to hide this but they really would not have been able to handle it, especially my MIL and one SIL (fundamentalists). And yes, their FB posts are the most vile and racist. But of course, it’s wrapped in righteousness. If you read their posts, you would not think these folks were Christian.

        • They’re not perfect…just forgiven!

          Pre-cooked to rightous perfection.

I had married (long ago, now divorced) into the Windish Catholic Church. An interesting and rustic religion. Ceremony was conducted in Latin and Windish. Anyways, good luck.

    • @Aim, a great point! The anti catholicism of many Midwestern and Southern people is stunning. I think they can JUST deal with an Irish or Italian Catholic who has been devoted all their lives, but converting to Catholicism would certainly be seen as suspicious. And, it’s more common to see Republican politicians who’ve converted to Evangelism. Mike Pence and Mike Pompeo were both raised Catholics. Maybe it’s a new generation, I hear many young men are now converting, but I very much doubt it goes down well with the core voters.

      • Solaia I always love your comments and know you work w/Americans. Having read his book, close to the publication time in 2016, Vance is not a shallow person. His wife is still Hindu. He started a non-profit to fight the opioid crisis in Ohio, which he considered big companies preying on little people. He never went to church growing up, though his Mamah was a Bible thumper. In adulthood he found greater depth to the beliefs of the Catholics and the Mormons he met than the Evangelicals, as he explains in the book. In US, lots of churches, not just Catholic, but Lutheran, Methodist, lose members to Evangelic churches which are less “boring.” There’s more back and forth between faiths than you seem to realize, and always have been. My own Puritan ancestors converted to Catholicism around 1900 and so did others in their community. That said MAGA is now much like a religion, and JD Vance is the type of person whom the movement appeals to, although he wasn’t buying it when he wrote his book. I’m not sure how Evangelicals are defined, but the deeply religious I know don’t support Trump because he’s a such a bad person. As his own sister told Mary Trump, he has no moral fiber. Aim’s family surprises me but Evangelical churches aren’t boring (why they get more followers) and it’s the spirit at the MAGA rallies that people go for. As a never-Trumper, I believe Vance helps him and the Democrats should go with a ticket of Andy BeshearP and Gretchen Whitmer VP (I know you admire her). It’s too risky to put a woman on top of the ticket and Trump has made fun of her in the past. They will lose very big if they allow Progressive takeover of the party. Our border truly is a problem because no country can absorb 6 million new arrivals a year, so the Dems must acknowledge this.

    • I don’t know about that …just the mere fact that he picked Vance to be his guy is most likely enoughbecause those voters aren’t exactly independent thinkers

  14. On a side note. The USA birth chart using the “Treaty of Paris” date of Sept. 3 1783 is Virgo Sun/Scorpio Moon/Leo Asc.
Hmmm…America a Leo rising; imagine that!

    • Interesting. Along those same lines, I just finished David McCullough’s biography of John Adams. Adams was very clear that nothing important happened on July 4, 1776. July 2 was the date the Declaration was actually agreed to and signing began. Notwithstanding what everyone who came later thought, Adams steadily asserted July 2 and, well, he was there. The chart for July 2 puts a Moon/Pluto conjunction at 25/27 Capricorn with Mercury opposite at 25. . . Pluto was again in that Capricorn neighborhood when Trump was elected. Not there anymore.

It’s a small thing, but hopefully it’s enough that we will be spared another Trump presidency.

      • Fascinating! I’m currently staying in Boston and our hostel host/historian told us all about John Adams – his long time ago relative. ( He said that it’s fairly common to be related to one of the Founding Fathers and I know a woman in my state who is distantly related to George Washington). I will ask him about this. Off topic, but he said that John Adams’ son Quincy, was known to skinny dip regularly and was considered to be rather eccentric. Thank you

        • Oh I would love to go to Boston Jody, although I’ve heard the traffic is unbelievable. How fascinating to hear such stories about Adams. John and Abigail Adams are my favorite Founding Parents — she was a Founding Mother and all 🙂 — and I’ve also heard that John Quincy was quite eccentric!

          • Look up the Hi Hostel Boston, Lizzie! It’s inexpensive, and there are several dorms that you can choose from at various price ranges. Free breakfast (or you can prepare your own food if you choose)and daily/nightly tours and activities, free, or for a nominal price. It’s in Chinatown/downtown, a couple blocks away from Boston Common, Cheers Bar, Louisa May Alcott’s home in Louisburg Square,
Boston Harbor; everything historical and also fun. Boston has the first underground subway system in America and it is still in operation. The hostel is within walking distance from both train stations. I hope you can visit sometime! 🙂 Thanks

          • Lizzie, if you go to Boston you’ll find a statue of Abigail Adams in the Commonwealth Avenue Mall park (along with suffragist Lucy Stone and poet Phillis Wheatley, a former slave) in the Boston Women’s Memorial. The statue of Abigail Adams has inscribed part of a letter she wrote to her husband, “…and by the way in the new Code of Laws which I suppose it will be necessary for you to make I desire you would Remember the Ladies, and be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors. Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the Husbands. Remember all Men would be tyrants if they could. If particular care and attention is not paid to the Ladies we are determined to foment a Rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any Laws in which we have no voice, or Representation.”

      • Hi Lizzie. What time was used for 7/2? Did Adams provide one? 7/2 makes sense for why I get so wrapped up in this and sometimes cry when I vote —which I find interesting. I majored in poli sci and wanted to go into politics. My MC is 25 Cap in the 9th house with a trine to Virgo moon but by 7 degrees. Maybe that is too wide an orb. Thanks!

        • I don’t think 7 degrees is too wide an orb at all. I didn’t see an actual time for July 2, Aim. If I put the signing at 12 noon my software calculates 9 Libra rising with Saturn at 14 Libra.

There were great paintings made of the signing of the Declaration of Independence but according to Adams the reality was very different. Delegates were running in and out of the room, agreeing, arguing, cutting deals, before consensus was finally reached. Throughout the process Adams always had problems getting everyone in the same room at the same time. The stately grandeur of the Founding Fathers standing side by side, looking perfectly into the future on July 4 never happened.

          • @Lizzie, this seems to be a very accurate depiction of the events. I’m likely very distantly related to John Morton, since his great grandfather, as well as about 1/3 of the New Sweden initial dwellers were from Rautalampi Parish (I actually get on getting genetic hits from Morton’s mother’s Archer family, who went everywhere) both my parents have deep roots at. Morton famously was the deciding vote at Pennsylvania five men delegation, and apparently, reached the decision July 2nd.

      • Independence was declared in 1776, but the creation of the Presidency was in the summer of 1787. A very dramatic and drawn-out process — like everything else in history/politics, especially in the USA. I’ll try and get the exact date.
I,also, just finished reading the John Adams biography and it made me feel so patriotic, but it did bring home the truth about how narrowly we escaped a much different fate.
If you haven’t read McCullough’s other books (especially Truman), I’d highly recommend them. He’s such a great writer.

        • The Constitution was ratified by nine states on September 17, 1787 and the heading says “George Washington President and deputy from Virginia”. And it authorizes executive power to be vested in a President (Article II, section 1.) unfortunately without a time. A true historian might have more useful information, but this date might be worth using for anything to do with some of the proceeding events.

        • Couldn’t agree more about McCullough. I’ve started his book on Americans in Paris and the Truman biography is next. McCullough absolutely brings history to life.

  15. Well JD will have to vacate his Senate seat to be Trump’s VP so he’s betting his political future on Trump winning.

    • Not a problem. Ohio has a Republican Governor, Mike DeWine, who would just reappoint Vance if he loses, or replace him with another Republican if the Trump-Vance ticket wins. It’s pretty low-stakes for both Vance and the GOP to run him as a VP candidate.

  16. I keep thinking his chart can be rectified using progressed moon. 7th corresponds w law school/marriage. 8th, his period in venture capital. 9th, publishing and baptism as a Catholic. 10th, senate and now running mate. Also, he’s had several name changes, which speaks to natal Neptune in 3H.

  17. He is just wrapping up his Pluto square for a major life gear shift that has been in process for 2-3 years. Pluto turns back at 29 38 Cap on 12 October but hovers there for a while before getting back into Aqua.

    • Trump also, albeit by change of house. Pluto is about to cross into his 6th of health (Koch, Placidus).
In the Whole Sign chart, preferred by Hellenistic astrologers and people like Robert Hand, Pluto will cross into his 7th of partners, spouse, enemies, judges. Either way, changes of heath status seem likely.

  18. This might be wishful thinking, but I feel that nominating a “mini me” could have been a huge mistake from Trump. As said elsewhere, Vance will not help to bring suburban women back as Trump voters. But more importantly, it might lead to many voters he has trusted in in the last two elections to stay home. Vance seems extremely unlikeable, and utterly lacking the punch that makes people think that yes, DJT is a bully, but he is THEIR bully.

My guess is the difference is in Mars: DJT’s Leo Mars is into face on ASC, Vance’s Scorpio Mars is more concealed.

    • Well, there’s a question. Indeed the same question could be asked about Trump’s, Biden’s and Harris’s charts. None of them look joyous. It’s not helped by the fact that the results from the US election could take quite a long time to come in. It’s not like the UK when the results are pretty quick, and you can tell from the transits for the day after the election which person is likely to be the PM or not to be PM any longer. The successful PM tends to have benefics on important points, and a sitting one who loses his position tends to have malefics on MC and/or IC, not least because he or she has to move out of Downing Street at very short notice, while absolutely exhausted. We can’t do that to the same extent with the US election.

But you can tell something from the inauguration chart for noon on 20th January 2025 in Washington. As you can imagine, many American astrologers are looking at this. They may all be wrong, or wishful thinkers, but the general view is that Biden will be the one on the podium and that Trump will not. This is not to say that the election will go well. Many of the US astrologers think that the margins will be very small and Trump will be a very sore loser. Many anticipate some civil unrest and endless litigation. Biden probably won’t be up to the job and Harris will take over. Or so they say.

We need Marjorie to give us her views, but she’s probably too canny to do so.

  19. JD Vance is Trump’s disciple.

He has recanted his positions. He confesses to holding heretical beliefs in the past. He has seen and now reflects Trump’s benefic light. He has in fact undergone a transfiguration, a sea change: he is all MAGA now.

Trump’s Pluto – planet of transformation – is conjunction JD’s Sun, square his Saturn, trine his Uranus, opposite his Hygeia. All placements within 30 minutes of exactitude. Trump’s Sun is trine JD’s Moon.

Was this mind boggling match made in Heaven or in Hell: the answer depends on your politics?

    • so this is what the chart of a nasty little prototype fascist looks like. Last heard saying ‘professors are the problem’… because how could populism survive when experts are actually listened to? It’s chilling, shades of 1930s Germany etc.
Pluto has a big part to play in the charts here. A reminder that it’s not always a force for good. It can often disrupt just for the hell of it.

  20. I want to like JD Vance. He wrote “Hillbilly Elegy”, had a horrendous childhood, pulled himself out of poverty, wound up at Yale . . . seems to possess self-awareness (unlike Trump) but how do you change your position on Trump so dramatically? For the love of power, obviously — Saturn and Mars in Scorpio (not conjunct) and possibly Moon/Pluto conjunct. . . but such changeability I cannot trust. He has fixity in his chart, how can he so completely flip? Need that birth time.

I have a grand cross in fixed signs, I do not understand this flipping of one’s position. LOL.

    • @Lizzie, apparently people with similarly horrendous childhoods or who just lived in Appalachia didn’t appreciate the book or the movie and felt it was offensive and even fake. Vance also underperformed at his Ohio Senate race.

As for the flipping: That Neptune on a critical degree of a Mutable sign is telling and obviously present at moment, too.

      • Good points, @Solaia, thank you. I didn’t think of Neptune at the critical degree. I should have, I have a friend with her Sun/Mars at 29 Pisces who complains she feels like she’s walking underwater right now.

        • “Well, if I ever ran for office, I’d do better as a Democrat than as a Republican,” Donald Trump told Playboy in 1990. “And that’s not because I’d be more liberal, because I’m conservative. But the working guy would elect me. He likes me.” npr.org

          • @Jane, well, the Teamster leader speaking at the RNC yesterday.

What’s significant, though, is that David Sacks’, anti-Ukraine speech was received with deep yawn by the crowd. Republican base doesn’t love Putin nearly as much as some of their (now mostly fallen) idols. This may be significant for Vance.

        • @Lizzie, I don’t have anything directly affected by this on my birth chart, still there’s really strange vibe.

This also made me think about Sadgittarius to Capricorn Neptune passage during which Vance was born. I remember very little of that time, except for Los Angeles Olympics I fully enjoyed. However, Reagan was re-elected with Neptune turned direct in very end of Sadgittarius.

      • Depends on what you mean by “underperformed”.

From memory (and I could be wrong. Thankfully, I’m not American), he was the only Trump-endorsed Senate candidate in the 2022 Senate elections that actually won. Blake Masters in Arizona and Dr. Oz in Pennsylvania were other Trump-endorsed candidates that lost in that election. So, not sure that he underperformed.

My info of these elections comes from the Youtube channel “Let’s Talk Elections”, so it may of course be biased at source.

        • By “underperformed,” he got far fewer votes than the Ohio Republican governor on the same ballot. His opponent, Tim Ryan, did fairly well but lost.

Vance comes across as an opportunist and wealthy hypocrite, no matter his origins. He moved back to Ohio only to run for office.

          • @Nicole Sours Larson, I was thinking about the metrics here, and yes, it was against DeWine, an old Conservative “hold out”, but none the less one of the Governors who dealt with the pandemic competently.

    • “how can he so completely flip?”

Simple. He wants to be President. He thinks Trump is an obese old bloke, who may pop his cloggs after he is elected, leaving Vance as President.

This is raw ambition and determination. The sun square Saturn. I wouldn’t be surprised if his Moon was more closely conjunct Pluto. It would make him a Scorpio rising with Mars on the ascendant, and Mercury on the midheaven, hence his very successful book.

      • Here’s a stab at rectifying the chart.
Mercury in the 10th, Venus in the 9th (his wife is of Indian descent from both sides + she has a legal background), Sun in the 9th (legal backgrounds for both himself and his wife) and Neptune in the 1st (multiple names /identities especially through his childhood). So an early Sagittarius rising?
If the above is correct, that would put the Nodes in the 6th/12th Houses, which is considered the best places for them in Vedic astrology (the malefic Nodes in already malefic Houses). Also both his Part of Fortune and Jupiter (large/fat face?) would be in the first.

        • That looks quite promising to me. It would also put Uranus close to the Ascendent – tallness (6′ 2″), independent minded and a tendency to be unpredictable.

      • Also great political opportunism. I heard an interview this morning with a journalist who has profiled him. He talked about Vance’s deep anger which impels him to want to “tear everything down” and destroy the so-called deep state and all government agencies. Lots of rage against “the system” which he feels benefited others and not him. Yet he got to Yale and made a fortune in hedge funds. Bloody hypocrite!

        • He scares me with his pro Orban, anti Ukraine rhetoric. He has said of the UK that it is an Islamist State with nukes especially now that we have elected a centre Left government. But then I remember that a Mercury/Uranus square just loves to shock, like a naughty child saying a rude word at a vicar’s tea party and I just hope he is all mouth and no trousers.
