Dr Ruth – diminutive and determined

Ruth Westheimer, the celebrity sex therapist dubbed Dr Ruth by a caller to her late-night radio show and otherwise called ‘Grandma Freud’, has died. She was a target of conservatives for her support of gay rights and abortion.

Born 4 June 1928 4am Karlstadt, Germany, she was separated from her family when she was 10 and sent to Switzerland, with her parents taken away by the Nazis and killed. After the war she went to Israel and joined Hagganah, the Zionist military organisation, before moving to France with her first husband. That marriage did not last, nor her second but her third, with an American, survived nearly four decades until his death.

Her radio show started from small beginnings – a 15-minute segment at midnight – but soon extended and was syndicated as she grew in popularity with a successful television series to follow. Over the years, she taught at multiple universities and worked at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Harlem.

She had a 1st house communicative Gemini Sun opposition a knowledgeable Saturn and Moon in Sagittarius in her 7th house. Her Saturn in the 7th hints at the effort required to maintain a close relationship, more so with her Sun/Moon midpoint exactly square her Saturn. But with her Moon in the 7th she needed the support of a partner and would put herself across to her public audience in a way that was serious and motherly at the same time. Her saving grace from a tragic childhood was her predominantly inspirational Fire chart with Uranus, Mars and Jupiter in Aries, Neptune in Leo and Moon Saturn in Sagittarius – which would give her an overload of self-belief.

Her high-risk and frightening Mars square Pluto and downbeat Sun Moon Saturn do bear testimony to what she went through but she managed to rise above it.

 She had a notable healers’ 12th harmonic and a leaving-a-legacy 17th.

  1. Bernadette Brady in her book on fixed stars associates Capulus with male sexual energy,
focused, direct, penetrating action, at times brutal or violent, ruthless expression of the
Jsword of Perseus, passion, and the bite of experience. She notes that cult leader Jim
Jones had Capulus culminating when his Mars was rising, as did gifted poet and painter
William Blake. Interestingly, Donald Trump has the same configuration; Capulus is
culminating as his Mars is rising.
Dr Ruth went thru’ 3 marriages before finding Mr. Right. she has BML in Scorpio
opposing Fixed Star Capulus in Taurus. Perhaps she chose sex therapy to get men to
    do it right.

  2. Her Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio throws a quindecile aspect (intense focus) upon her
Venus–Asc conjunction, very appropriate for a sex therapist worker with BML in 6th.

  3. Lilith’s archetype as the dark mother is strongest, and in her exaltation, when in the
dark feminine sign of Scorpio. Exaltation means that a planet or placement can easily
    manifest its full expression.
BML in the 6th…you seek to transform and heal the sometimes harmful system of the
sexual industry, because of your own difficult experiences, challenges, and trauma
in this area of your life. Her work/traumas, 6th, concerns BML and Scorpio themes dealing with sex.
In some charts, the distance between True and Mean BML covers one full sign,
This wide Lilith corridor explains why, if you have a wide corridor ‘tween your 2 Black
Moons, any slow moving transit of Pluto moving thru’ this corridor will exacerbate
any sexual problems you experience, If your both Black Moons are nearly conjunct,
the experience will be short-lived by any transit moving thru’ the corridor..
