Caroline Flack – reckless and sensitive to criticism

Caroline Flack, the Love Island presenter, tragically killed herself just hours after hearing the domestic assault case against her for an alleged attack on her boyfriend in early December was to go ahead. He called the police, then withdrew the complaint and was forbidden by the judge from having contact with her. There appears to have been evidence of her self-harming that night as well as indications that she might commit suicide later.

She was born 9 November 1979 1.30am Enfield, England, and had a packed 3rd house with a Scorpio Sun Uranus square a 12th house Mars in Leo; with Venus Mercury also in the 3rd. The Sun Uranus Mars would make her volatile and impulsive, prone to outbursts. And the 3rd house is the chart area which rules siblings as well as mental functioning. She appeared to have a complicated relationship with her non-identical twin, always feeling less talented and able than her. She had two other siblings. Her sensitive Cancer Moon was in an intense and possessive square to Pluto and trine her Sun Uranus. Plus she had a paranoid, neurotic Neptune square Saturn in Virgo.

Her Pluto sat exactly on her Sun/Saturn midpoint which is bleak and depressive.

Notwithstanding prosecutors all rushing to say domestic assault cases have to go ahead despite the complainant withdrawing allegations, which sometimes happens out of fear, it does seem an odd decision on the evidence to push ahead with the court case. It sounded more of a mental health issue and she clearly lived on the edge. But there again letting jealousy get out of hand, if the genders were reversed, would not be a defence. The fracas apparently erupted when she read what she assumed were flirtatious texts on his phone in the middle of the night.

From what I’ve read she didn’t seem good about taking responsibility for her reckless choices viz dating Harry Styles when he was 17 and she was 31. She got hurt and reacted badly when people pointed out how creepy it looked.

Her Solar Return for the year from November 2019 was sombre and trapped with Pluto and Saturn in the 8th and a directionless Neptune in the 10th. And over the New Year the tr Saturn Pluto was opposing her Solar Arc Midheaven which would be challenging.

  1. Thanks so much, Marjorie, for the thought-provoking analysis of Caroline Flack’s chart. Much appreciated. 🙂 Interesting that she had Pluto on her Sun/Saturn midpoint. That’s a heavy, grim influence. Her Mars in her 12th really jumps out at me, and not exactly in a nice way – that alone is a very challenging and frustrating placement, literally manifesting as buried or repressed anger.

Ever-hot-headed, controversial and rambunctious Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, Conor McGregor, also has this 12th house Mars in his chart; in his case, his Mars makes a harsh aspect to Saturn. So, both have an incendiary fire-sign Mars (hers was in Leo, his is in Aries) in the watery depths of the 12th house…

Also similarly to Flack, McGregor h
has Jupiter conjunct his Asc, so a real potential to experience a great lust for life. It is odd how there are more than a few similarities between two people who couldn’t seem any more different on the surface…

Statistically, Mars has often been found in Gauquelin sectors in many athletes/sportspeople’s charts. I strongly believe that Caroline Flack might have weathered life’s troughs more ably and still be alive now, if perhaps she had pursued some kind of athletic or other professional physical activity.

BTW, word has it that Harry Styles is actually gay (but obviously not ‘out’ yet – what with not trying to crush the romantic hopes of his legion of female fans). Apparently he has public ‘PR relationships’ with various ladies, while he enjoys the company of men privately… George Clooney is another one who’s gay, and who has a PR marriage-only with his companion Amal. Anyway, I clearly digress…

May Caroline Flack finally Rest In Peace.

  2. I know 2 people with Mars in the 12th they do-not-lash-out, ever. So personally i am not buying the short trigger abuser story that seems to be what most people have settled on, there was more going on.

And yes Sarah ( above) i agree, Amanda Holden said as much, she was given no support at all by the network. Should ‘troubled’ celebrities be propped up when they mess up and protected? that’s another issue, but its clear the likes of Philip Scholfield and Ant and Dec were.

  3. And as a society we speak of mental illness as though it has no cure. I met a young woman recently who has a degree in psychology and had begun her masters. She said the further she got into her studies the more important she felt it to be that psychology also includes body work. Through a series of synchronicities she found her way to kinesiology 3 in 1 and beyond, gave up her studies and is now working in a shop to pay for her training. Another kinesiologist combines kinesiology with clearing family resonances (family constellations and family lines – carole chenevrier).

An applied kinesiologist in London used to check every ref she had or each client – she had a suicide point that she would reset at need for her clients if she found it needful.

This is not the place for this discussion? but how can a list of these sorts of aids to finding a way through be accessible to anyone in need – to have some sort of starting point. We aren’t taught anything in school about how to find our feet again if we lose them, if we haven’t picked up being successful techniques, or being true, or being real, or don’t know to drink enough water or not eat just empty calories, take enough exercise, no techniques for trauma and flashbacks (my flashback loops were broken and archived in one session – I was amazed (raw trauma can take 8 sessions or more, but still)). Or having awareness of Love, or Grace or Redemption as realities (or even concepts). Anna Breytenbach – disconnection with nature and connection, feeling compassion and becoming part of a fabric of ‘we’. And animals – the footage with the baboons is astonishing imo.

    • There is a element of boxing the compass – of mapping through 360° and then back again, to form an opinion from both ways. Of course as you go along you realise that there are at least 3 dimensions, and then that any position or point can go in any direction so you use your competence to map what you are actually looking at.

Marjorie I apologise for taking up so much space

      • competence (experience and way in (kinesiology 3 in 1… etc could be engineering, anything) and always in context – concrete relation to the person or situation, always ready to readjust to react to affirm…

        • Thank you Pam Rogers and Marjorie; in context, the Sun is about to enter Pisces’realm. During these last two days with the Sun in Aquarius (and you posting the messages), we’re having a glimpse of what it is to be alive in the unbounded wholeness, the era to come, it could be aptly named the ‘symbiotic one’ when Neptune will be in Aries, 2026-2038 & Pluto in Aquarius 2024-2044…. And my Scorpio daughter told me frankly one early morning, at sunrise, in February 2020: you’ve GOT to be among us in 2050!!! That’s as it may be (I’ll be only 81) Peace Peace Peace Caroline! The rainbow shone on Monday afternoon, I was in awe… the first rainbow I’ve spotted in 2020!

          • Many thank yous Geraldine and rainbows <3 🙂

(The quote should be 'Surely where he is, they are around him, the long maned shadows' (Voices, Ursula le Guin)

And meet should be fair (all senses) and just. Not taking because you can (which happens too often these days?) Mete is not what I meant at all when I looked up the spelling (apologies))

          • Geraldine – Having come across the sidereal zodiac this week, (and feeling (to date) that the uranus, mars, pluto conjuction feels more leonine than virgoan in its expression?) Nep into Aries and Pluto into Aqua may be a couple of years later?

This subject really might be a nest of vipers? 🙁

Marjorie (or anyone else who is competent) – I’d love to hear your understanding – moving equinoxes (tropical), further and further from the fixed stars of the zodiac signs (sidereal)? In a sidereal chart I lose my lovely venus in pisces and the lovely 1998 BU48 on my aries point, become aries rising (not taurus) with a virgo (not libra) moon, still have 11th house saturn but now thankfully in Aquarius – I saw one discussion and am not well enough versed in astrology to not show my ignorance, but that 60’s stellium is very different in Leo and Virgo? I love my tropical chart, but the (even) plainer sidereal one rings truer? Flows totally? if it is a nest of vipers is there a go to book that astrologers would recommend (anyone who knows please) so that I can read up about it? love to all the community.

          • I have to admit though I would love to see this kind of chart (I know KRS from the youtube link think them all a circus :)….. )

Ayanamshas Oriented towards the Galactic-Ecliptic Node
A few astrologers have started to fix a sidereal-like zodiac at the “galactic nodes”, i.e. at the intersection points between the ecliptic and the galactic equator, which roughly corresponds to the centre line of the visible Milky Way. This kind of solution as well as ayanamshas oriented towards the galactic centre are obviously more convincing from a philosophical point of view, because the galaxy is the greater whole, within which our Sun and all visible stars move and exist. In R. Mardyks’ view, this kind of ayanamsha or zodiac is not sidereal, but galactic. Nevertheless, it is as “fixed” as a sidereal zodiac.

            * Skydram Ayanamsha (R. Mardyks)
(also known as Galactic Alignment Ayanamsha)

This ayanamsha was proposed in 1991 by the American astrologer Raymond Mardyks. It had the value 30° on the autumn equinox 1998. Consequently, the node (intersection point) of the galactic equator with the ecliptic was very close to sidereal 0° Sagittarius on the same date, and there was an interesting “galactic alignment”: The autumnal equinoctial point was conjunct the north galactic pole and the solstices were conjunct the galactic nodes. A similar alignment occurs four times in a full precessional cycle. In Mardyks’ view, this galactically aligned zodiac and ayanamsha opens astrology to higher “galactic” dimensions which are also considered in Maya astrology.

This ayanamsha or zodiac therefore has a “tropical” component. Mardyks calls it a “hybrid fixed-tropical, galactic zodiac”. In astrological practice, Mardyks uses this galactic zodiac combined with the tropical zodiac along with the stars that compose the constellations.

Mardyks’ calculation is partially based on the galactic coordinate system that was defined by the International Astronomical Union in 1958.

  4. Oscar Wilde once wrote “There are two kinds of tragedy. One is not getting what you want.
The other is getting it.” Caroline’s terrible self-destruction is a heartbreaking reminder that
fame and fortune clearly aren’t what it seems. There is a price to be paid in the 21st Century,
especially with the poisonous whirlpool that comprises social media networks.

She is finally at peace now.

    • Never was a truer word said.

All suicides are tragedies. Most don’t rate a mention in the news. I suspect this one has attracted a lot of attention because those in the media bubble see it as one of their own dying. The CPS have been subjected to some rather unfair criticism for simply following the rules. It is the job of the courts not the police and prosecutors to request mental health reports on defendants. There have been the usual calls for curbs on the press and social media to protect vulnerable people in public life like Caroline Flack but it should be noted that these same individuals often court these outlets both to enhance their careers and to validate their often fragile identities. If you jump into the snake pit then the chances are you will be bitten by snakes. The cries for more protection of those the public eye such as politicians and celebrities always smacks of special pleading for a privilege that is normally denied ordinary citizens. Once again it suggests the them and us divide that seems all to prevalent recently in British society. Indeed, one wonders what finally drove poor Caroline over the edge was the prospect of losing her celebrity career and going from being one of the chosen few on the inside to joining the rest of humanity on the outside.

      • (or being publicly ‘shamed’ and having totally lost ‘face’ with herself (more shame) – there are ways of coming through, or being guided (she felt isolated and alone, a precipice on either side, the path crumbling away behind her. At some point there is no path ahead (you can’t see it – it is the same as not having any skill. Who has it. Who can guide you through, make a bridge, give a different point of view, hold you steady and work with you to come to a position of equilibrium and after that to guide you into learning useful skills to put you on your feet again (this is engagement rather than prescription imo). Look at the top ‘horse whisperer’ people who work with horses – they love horses, they understand the dynamics of being a horse, they stand with each horse and also lead/guide/teach. This is what we are also asking of our health professionals surely? And kindness. I crossed our local horse whisperer (plus animal homeopathy, shiatsu, kinesiology) high up on one of her lovely horses yesterday (‘where she is are the long maned shadows’) – she never rides in a bit either. A lot of debate comes down to raising awareness and competence? Personal and group?). And this: (search) Mia Lykke Nielsen trains Dutch show jumper. When Horses Choose. I find I love KWPN (she is?) horses: what a mare!

          • Looking for ways to collaborate around an issue, to find a way through where there is no give, a way to be to make it through – awareness and balance (any way you look at it or feel it), always seeking (looking for/readjusting) the balance (there is an element of what is actually meet and just, not just lobbying).

‘Voices’ by Ursula le Guin is excellent. Anything she wrote probably? Mr God this is Anna by Fynn, Dibs in search of self by V Axline, Jung and the story of our Time (by Laurens van der Post yes I know ‘death of a hero but not a hero’s death’* and too many verbal flourishes, but this book is good, and A story like the wind, and a far off place)

            * Fashion in Shrouds, Margery Allingham

          • a way through where there is no give (grow bigger, be more, widen your skills base, make reparation, do the work, take the time… and if someone doesn’t forgive, allow them but work on yourself make your life no matter what, perhaps a time will come when you can bridge the gap if needed, or you will see the circumstance in a new way – something you blamed someone for in fact just showed you the extent of your own lack of maîtrise, to the point of having no footing – ie you actually had no footing before that event showed it to you and because you didn’t know you thought the event was the cause – these sorts of things)

      • “If you jump into the snake pit then the chances are you will be bitten by snakes.”

Full support of the network, an excellent legal team, sh*t hot emergency PR team, a gagging order and a #superinjunction…….might work, at least for some, probably not available to everyone.

        • The support given by ITV to troubled, male, high profile stars seems to be in stark contrast to the treatment given to Caroline Flack, perhaps because ITV saw as her as dispensible, lesser figure. ITV could have done much more to support her publicly, given her the same level of protection shown to Ant McPartlin (remember his court case for drink driving?) and Schofield, but they didn’t. She was effectively sacked for a private row. It appears it was well known that Flack was a emotionally vulnerable person, someone who had threatened to commit suicide in the past. The realisation her TV career was over when the CPS decided to press ahead with the case seems to have tipped her over the edge. Anyone, famous or not, would have been highly distressed at the loss of their career. I wonder if there is an astrology chart for ITV’s launch time?

Last week’s full Moon in Leo was on her 12th house cusp square natal Uranus at 20 deg. Scorpio.

        • It is incredibly sad that Caroline Flack took her own life. Two contestants on “Love Island”, plus the boyfriend of one of them, also killed themselves last year. Each time people are “devastated”. Yet nothing is done, because the show has good ratings I assume. Nobody suddenly gets to this terrible place where dying seems to be the only option, it builds up for a long time, and for many reasons. During that time the right help and support can sometimes make for a different outcome. So-called reality TV like this, plus social media, doesn’t care how many people it eats up and spits out. Once we stop seeing this as fun for those watching at a safe distance, we may make some progress. In Caroline’s own case, she needed help long before she hit her boyfriend over the head with a lamp, beginning this tragic trajectory. But we are still hesitant about dealing with mental health issues, even today. Perhaps Neptune in Pisces can eventually, with everyone’s help, mark a time when we turn this around in society. We can always hope.

  5. Yeah. I’m Still kinda speechless about this. Felt deep dread as I found out. I read your Dec 24th piece as soon as I did.

She had natal Mars 12th square her Sun/Uranus. For myself, I somewhat fear Mars in 12th by transit or solar return. It’s never is a great experience for me. Hidden enemies within and/or without. Buried angers. The inescapable psychological fire. I never enjoy it.

    • Looking at this write up, I’d be interested to know about her relationship with her father…
He is not represented well on her chart.
