Blake Lively – a legal car crash

The “epic-level stupid” lawsuit brought by Blake Lively against Justin Baldoni, as described by a Hollywood studio executive, has ended out of court without damages or even an apology. The co-stars reportedly spent $60 million combined to sue and countersue one another, according to Page Six after the filming of It Ends With Us.

She claimed in court filings she lost nearly $300 million in earnings and income after being the victim of an alleged ‘smear campaign branding her as a ‘mean girl’ and a ‘bully’; and was a necessary stand against asking for a safe working environment. Critics saw it as an act of hubris and legal overreach.’

The film was a commercial success, making $351m (£259m) from a budget of $25m. Though she was criticised for what appeared to be a flippant attitude to its promotion, given its domestic abuse storyline.  Studio sources have suggested that Lively has gained a reputation as a “backseat director”. One film executive told the Daily Mail: “This lawsuit has ruined her in Hollywood… She had a reputation for being difficult, one of those toxic people who always thinks she knows best.”

Blake Lively, born 25 August 1987 5.07 am Tarzana, California, into an entertainment business family, has a high vitality, upfront Mars, Sun, Venus and Mercury in Virgo all conjunct in her 1st house – she’s full on. Her Moon is also in Virgo in a chilly square to Saturn. In addition to a pernickety overdose of Virgo what stands out is her Pluto in Scorpio sitting on her IC in the middle of a trine between Neptune in her performing 5th house trine her Virgo stellium. She will be controlling and tending to be overly defensive about anything that feels like interference. Doubling up on that, her Pluto is also opposition Jupiter in latest degree Aries, giving her an overdose of confidence and a sense that rules don’t apply to her.

Which makes it all the odder that her husband Ryan Reynolds, 23 October 1976 4.30am Vancouver, Canada is a New Moon in Scorpio conjunct Uranus Mars also in Scorpio. And Justin Baldoni, 24 January 1984 8.30pm Los Angeles, has Pluto, Moon Mars and Saturn all in Scorpio with his Aquarius Sun square.

Studio sources say she will not be working again in a hurry after this litigation car-crash and it is likely to negatively affect her husband Ryan’s career as well.

She has tr Uranus moving to make a jolting square to her Mars, Sun and Venus picking up within days and sticking around all year, after which in 2027 and on Uranus rattles up her Mercury and Moon; with heavy pressure from tr Pluto square her Pluto in 2027/28 bringing challenges on the home front and maybe just maybe trying to let self-awareness in through her overly protective shield.

Her husband also looks under considerable stress through this year right through till the turn of the decade with tr Pluto square his Moon, Uranus and Mars in Scorpio. The whole debacle and its aftermath will put a good deal of strain on their marriage.

Not that Justin Baldoni will be jumping for joy since his Aquarius Sun and Scorpio Moon are both catching tr Pluto had aspects until late 2027 which may grind him to a semi-halt by which time tr Pluto will be in a frustrating and trapped square to his Mars until early 2029.

Never go to law.

  1. I love the way everyone just knows what is happening in this situation!

In another post Marjorie, you commented nobody knows the interior workings of a marriage. (Forgive me, I am paraphrasing!)

I feel the exact same way about these situations.

I lived in LA for many years and heard many a story. Some were accurate. Some were gossip and some have never met the light of day.

The idea of who has power is an interesting one I agree, it might seem Blake and her husband have the power BUT do they? It’s funny I did not see either of them as particularly having power in the hollywood sense.

Clearly they don’t ‘have the power’

Isn’t a horoscope a map of some kind? There are many ways paths to take to get from point A and point B. Many ways of interpreting the chart. My experience with astrologers is, the work they produce is also a reflection of their prejudices and education, their level of compassion.

    I agree avoid the courts!

    • Virgo + Aries:
Years back Michael Lutin said you could produce an Andulusian horse by mixing the two. Bold and Brash plus Refined and Perfectionistic just sounded disjointed to me, but his comment came back when the animal known as Blake Lively cantered up the red gala carpet with her exact – and exacting – Virgo + Mars conjunction.

Balls, make believe, star turns, and control control control = gonzo first house, Leo rising, stellium strategy plus Scorpios all over the place.

The detached vibe of an Aquarius Sun shows up in Baldoni’s low profile compared to other two… perhaps later we’ll get the Scorpio reveal that we know he has inside.

  2. Never Go to Law.

So many variables in a lawsuit, especially a high profile lawsuit.

Sounds like your basic Pluto Mars relationships, starts out on fire and turns into World War III; nasty, ugly, horrid enemies.

  3. Marjorie I’m so glad you addressed this, I’ve been reading these court filings for a year and a half and wondering about the astrology in terms of power! Pluto uncovering the machinations of the powerful?

Interestingly and kind of a spin from the usual, Lively was more powerful in Hollywood than Baldoni because of her husband RR. As the judge explained in his dismissal of all of Lively’s sexual harassment claims, power is an element of sexual harassment.

Pluto! Mars? Pluto through cap and into Aquarius? Hubris? Neptune?

Is there anything suggesting this war was really Ryan V Justin? I ask because it turns out Ryan was behind much of the ”takeover” to the extent a Sony exec referred to Blake as “she ( Ryan)” demands x. Ryan has so much Scorpio and this has looked like a Scorpio taking down its prey while also taking itself down.

In unsealed text messages and emails, the public learned Ryan was pressuring Sony and WME to force Justin to take responsibility for Ryan’s company’s marketing of the movie, which is what was being criticized by the public and part of what negatively impacted Blake’s rep.

Is this just two people who refuse accountability or can’t see their part in consequences?

Blake had a shaky rep at best after a long public past of tone deaf actions, e.g., Blake had also used her drinks brand to publicly mock Catherine, the Princess of Wales, a few months before the movie premiere, right before the cancer announcement. This kind of “humor” is what they are known for (also see Ryan’s Gwyneth Paltrow Astronomer ad post scandal). It won’t always go over well.

Right before settling, an unsealing of discovery showed a Sony exec via contemporaneous messages saying Blake had asked her- well after the premiere of the film and when we now know Blake was plotting to sue – to destroy the dailies. Blake claimed otherwise in her deposition. many of Blake’s claims (which were dismissed) were about conduct she claimed took place on set while filming and therefore what happened was documented in those dailies that Sony says she asked to have deleted.

Baldoni eventually used some of that video to discredit her claims. Yikes!

… wealth, celebrity and privilege = power to abuse the US court system? The hubris has been shocking. they would have gotten away with it if Baldoni et al couldn’t afford to fight back.

    “Never go to law.” Absolutely.

      • As settlement news broke I thought RR had forced the deal, and was in effect pimping his wife out to rattle headlines their way. But as the week unfolded and BL punched down further I began to wonder if the Scorpio similarity of RR and JB offered Blake a proxy. Has suing Baldoni also been a subconscious charge against RR?

I’d say the Reynolds sport is knocking people down, in any/every case.

M.O. on Mr & Mrs Reynolds:
“ all that Virgo matched with all that Scorpio. Quite a bubbling cauldron
        https://star4cast.com/blake-lively-ryan-reynolds-virgo-scorpio-overload/

        • interesting theory, because I’ve read reports long before this lawsuit of how Blake gets Ryan to do things for her by asking if he’s man enough to get her x. So she could have been using JB to maneuver RR.

Agree RR/BL have long history of punching down.

Blake/Ryan thought JB was a pushover. His wife Emily is said to be the one who put her foot down when Ryan and Blake demanded Justin take the blame for their bad marketing, and she is a (unverified) Leo sun, Scorpio moon and Libra rising.

          So much Scorpio, mars, Pluto.

Lessons about not becoming entrenched in warfare (hmmm could be a theme) and not pushing others until they have nothing left to lose (also a geopolitical theme thanks to our president).

  4. No astrology, sorry. After reading a bit about how they all came together, there was an indication that all three are narcissists who love-bombed each other until their masks slipped.

  5. @Beth, Hollywood is famed for its pervasive misogyny, and for the mentality that allows male directors to get away with demeaning behavior, and worse, for years without repercussions, as long as they’re producing hits; there’s a sense that as long as they’re making money, they’re golden, never mind the body count they leave in their wake. The original reporting by the New York Times on Baldoni’s sexist and retaliatory behavior was pretty compelling, as was the fact that Lively filed a complaint with the state commission, rather than simply complaining to the studio; and Baldoni’s attempt to sue the Times for libel was dismissed in court (although, admittedly, public figures have to clear the higher bar of “actual malice” to prove libel under U.S. law).

In short, even if Lively is a control freak (or even an out-and-out stinker!), it doesn’t mean she wasn’t also the victim of a double standard and poor treatment. Maybe it takes a personality like Lively’s to stand up to entitled studio execs and directors possessed of god complexes. I doubt the cost of litigation was a huge issue for Lively and Reynolds; with a reported collective net worth of nearly $400 million, they’re not in danger of missing the mortgage payment.

    • Very grateful for your reply, thank you

I mentioned it because I seem to recall “victim” astrology in another post, I may be mistaken

  6. Wondering if there could be an element of Blake Lively being subjected to a “blame the victim” mentality, so prevalent in Hollywood and in society in general.
