Andy Burnham – a surprising catalyst for change ++ Corbyn/McDonnell

Odd and ends on Burnham.

Not much can be known with certainty until the day of his elevation which is seemingly in three weeks maybe around July 14th. The explosive Mars Uranus conjunction in Gemini will still be in orb trine Pluto which hints at considerable aggravations ahead. The Jupiter opposition Pluto sextile/trine Uranus and Neptune being widely regarded as a miraculous turn for the better between 17th and 20th July would be better. Earlier between the 4th and 6th July there is a turbulent, bad-tempered exact Mars Uranus conjunction trine Pluto followed by a downbeat Sun square Saturn. So not an easy road in, assuming a July coronation.

What is certain is that his relationship with Trump will be toxic with a deep-dislike and determined power struggle composite Pluto square Mars; with a fractious Mars Saturn conjunction; and a yod of composite Sun inconjunct Pluto sextile Neptune. Bound together by destiny for good and ill.

Their relationship will rock n’ roll till the end of this month and again late November to mid December this year; and sag badly with tr Neptune conjunct the composite Sun now and on and off till early 2028. With more tensions erupting in 2027.

There are yods also in his synastry and composite chart with the UK which I am puzzling over. At this point he looks as if he could be yet another cipher in the revolving door at Number 10. But his Uranus sits on the UK Ascendant hinting at radical changes he will bring to the country’s image. So he may be a force to be reckoned with ahead.

His Saturn in Taurus itself natally on the focal point of a yod inconjunct Neptune sextile Pluto is also tied into a synastic yod (if such a thing exists) sextile the UK Pluto inconjunct the UK Uranus. Hs relationship chart with the UK has a yod of Saturn inconjunct Neptune sextile Venus.

Saturn on the focal point of a yod is spine-straightening and demands discipline and maturity to work well. Mishandled it can lead to frustration and failure.

One should not make too much of this number crunching but there is a slight sense that he might be a more radical instrument of change in the UK’s path ahead than his pleasant grin and lack of experience suggests at the moment.

Which might fit with the tr Uranus square the UK Pluto, on one leg of a yod, bringing significant change running through this year.

I am also puzzled as to why he seems unpopular with the rank and file members given he is further left than Starmer, though appealing to the Labour Parliamentary types (see previous post 19 June). Much remains to emerge.

ADD ON: Burnham and the left wing do seem at odds. His relationship chart with Jeremy Corbyn has a stressed yod of Neptune sextile Pluto inconjunct Mercury and North Node in Aries – all legs of which are being challenged with a turbulent tr Uranus square Pluto from this August into 2027. Tr Saturn in a downbeat conjunction to the focal point Mercury this December; with tr Neptune conjunct the North Node now. And a meltdown, confusing tr Pluto square the Neptune in 2027/28; plus a bad tempered tr Saturn conjunct the Mars also in 2027. There is a composite Sun Venus North Node and Mercury square Saturn hinting at a chilly chemistry.

But it is not quite as bad as Burnham’s relationship with John McDonnell which has naked dislike from a composite Mars square Pluto and Uranus.

  1. It’s been confirmed that he’ll become Leader of the Labour party on 17 July and Prime Minister on 20 July.

The 20 July chart also has synastry with the 1801 UK chart. Sun at 28 Cancer and Jupiter at 4 Leo. (UK has Moon at 19 Cancer and Jupiter at 1 Leo). He’ll become PM on the UK’s Jupiter return.

Depending on the exact time he becomes PM, the 20 July chart will have Moon opposition Saturn, and they’ll sit on the Asc-Desc axis of the 1801 UK chart, conjunct the UK’s nodes.

Looks like he’ll be a significant PM.

  2. Barring a contest which is looking increasingly unlikely Sky news is reporting the timetable for the new Labour leader aka Andy Burnham will be 17th July so in the more positive time frame mentioned.

  3. Andy Burnham’s Sun/Pluto midpoint falls in Scorpio – other people’s money and politics. I supposed this is where he thinks his self righteous politics comes from – other’s money? His Pluto/Venus midpoint falls in Scorpio as well, meaning he may love to use other’s wealth. His Mars/Sun falls in Aquarius, making him strongly pushy where groups are concerned. Believing in a state rulership under the interpretation of groups being best? This belies his sunny outlook. His Uranus will feature heavily in the next election, yet will also by tested by transiting Pluto. A gradual build up with problems, as next year will see Pluto in Uranus transit the U.K. Sun/Pluto midpoint in Aquarius and its Moon/Saturn midpoint in Leo. Maybe a clash in the heavens anbout Andy B’s plans? Not all plain sailing for Andy B at all. As those midpoints bring the two lights of Britain Sun leadership , Moon crowds/ people and then the voters, Saturn hardship, (it is worth noting Andy B has his Saturn in Taurus – meaning individual people’s money, which he may wish to use to build his big state), then Pluto other’s money. It looks like someone or something will have to give next year!

  4. Good luck to Burnham, as long as Farage is kept as far away from government the better, he would sell the Country to Trump/Putin if he thought he could make money. As has been proved by the 5 million he received for giving us Brexit.

    • Andy Burnham has a far worse record than Farage. His failure to deal with the grooming gang at the advanced stage of the inquiry.
His stint as Shadow Health Secretary – Mid Staffordshire hospital scandal inquiry-blocking a full public inquiry-to protect executives.
His increase in NHS privatization contracts. He joined Friends of Israel in 2015(as has half the labor cabinet) promising that his first visit overseas would be to Israel. He has lost two leadership races. Not enthusiastic.

        • Aligning with racist, genocidal zionists is also racist. And, abandoning a commitment to deal with grooming gangs in support of young women and girls is corrupt.I don’t see any politician as a saviour.

  5. Burnham lost two previous leadership elections in 2010 and 2015. In the latter contest the entire Labour membership voted and Burnham only got 19% of the vote compared to Corbyn’s 58.5%. This suggests he was not that popular with party membership. It probably also indicates that he would prefer a coronation rather than an actual leadership contest which might reveal that many in the Labour Party outside Parliament are perhaps not as enthusiastic about him as we are led to believe. I think assessing his likely impact on the UK will be easier when he is in office and has chosen his Cabinet. The person he selects as Chancellor will be the biggest indication of the likely direction of travel.

    • I think for the remaining Corbyn rump in the Labour Party, Burnham is as bad as Starmer. I suspect his relationship chart with Corbyn will be as bad as with Trump.

    • A look at the synastry between Burnham and whoever becomes chancellor would be interesting when the time comes.

I know a few Labour members and they are all unhappy – but for a variety of different reasons (the way Starmer wasnt supported, Burnham not left enough, the lack of contest to Burnham stepping in as PM). Not the joy I expected from them.

    • I’m really interested in just how far ‘left’ Burnham will go. His selection today of a new head of staff, fresh from an professional industry lobbying company, is highly disappointing. One of the huge mistakes that Starmer and Reeves made was to change policy following the clear influence of industry lobbyists, who they began to parrot as if they could not think independently. The farmers over inheritance tax, and the house builders in scrapping planning protections and blaming newts and bats for holding up development, are two such huge mistakes which have cost them dearly in votes and support. People can sniff a lack of integrity a mile off.

I was hoping that Sun-Moon conjunction in the UK’s fourth house might mean something about acting for the good of the country, rather than being a puppet for corporates. Time will tell.

      • Starmer’s government has been startlingly inept, especially with their PR and Comms. Valid arguments for or against, let alone nuances of such issues as heating allowances and farm inheritance tax were wiped out by crass blanket announcements. Owen Jones, The Guardian, sums it up well.
Starmer was disliked and mistrusted, but elected because the Tory government was continuously dire.
Burnham has better PR, at least in Manchester. He is definitely a better communicator, but the Corbyn leadership election showed him to be unoriginal, an apparatchik eager to please.
In Manchester it seems he had good people around him. Good judgement if they were his choice. If not, well we’ll see.
Hugh is right. His Chancellor will determine his government. It doesn’t matter whether Milliband however popular with Labour activists, is good, bad, right or wrong. He personifies the inbred Islington crowd who people truly despise and they’re really not in the mood to be kind or patient. However they just might be in the mood to take the medicine but only if they trust the messenger.

        • there’s a wider conversation to be had there – about making decisions on the basis of appearances, or making decisions on the wise application of data, science, and the right thing for the country. I know which I would rather choose.
Burnham is better at comms, you are right. I guess the big question, that we would all like answered now, but will only be borne out in how he behaves – is whether he has genuine integrity? and will he genuinely work for the good of the whole country, or bow to the bond markets, the corrupt industry lobbyists and the slander of the right wing press…. this latter approach was the Starmer government’s real mistake IMHO.

          • Following on from my reply to you which is logged under Thomas below (no I don’t know either), to dislodge deeply embedded interests, change almost has to be inadvertent, seemingly coming out of nowhere. Or at least I keep telling myself because it doesn’t look likely any other way.

  6. Maybe, just maybe, if the change to Andy Burnham doesn’t go well, especially if Ed Milliband becomes his Chancellor, the electorate may finally put their foot down and demand the changes they want. How? Who knows, but stranger things have been happening. Is there any astro indication that this could happen?

    • Ed Miliband is not the Devil. I find it extraordinary, that even in record-breaking hot weather, the clear need for renewable energy generation does not cut through to Daily Mail readers. Miliband has done good work for the country here.

  7. “Not much can be known with certainty until the day of his elevation which is seemingly in three weeks maybe around July 14th.” No Astrology here: although I agree it’s more likely to be 16th, I’d love it to be 14th July as that is Bastille Day.

  8. If it is the 16 July then I think that bodes well for a good term for him. It might be lucky to land a good deck of cards. Plus all signs on Farage’s chart are pointing to constant failure so the thorn in British Politics might not be a thorn for much longer. That will aid Labour no end as without Farage Reform are nothing.

    • Yes, of course, but we’re living in an era of presidential type politics, where all attention is on the frontman rather than the team. Politicians pander to that and to lobbyists, who seem to be their only conduit to information.
People respond to what is available, though their response is far more nuanced than our system allows.
Starmer and his government? Too much to say, but their lack of a coherent plan based on inner conviction and integrity led to their self enslavement to their own polls.
So far the omens are poor, but let’s hope they’ll change. You never know, change often comes from left of centre when and where it’s least expected.

  9. I’m interested that we are currently in a Mercury retro shadow then the retrograde through most of July. This retrograde goes over the top of the Cancer stellium of the current government chart for the 2024 election. So I wonder if he will call another election. I always felt that was an unstable chart with the Cancer emphasis/Moon rulership. A sort of one step forwards, two steps back term, esp with the outer planets also lingering around the final degrees. A new term (for any party) would be a radically different planetary picture, and likely change oriented.

  10. There is speculation that Ed Milliband will be his Chancellor. He is a couple of weeks older than Andy Burnham, so his Uranus is also exactly at 8 degrees Libra conjunct Uk Asc. Could be significant changes but also rebellion at policies?
Liz Truss had Pluto on Uk Asc.
