January 2020

A power-packed and challenging month lies ahead with the heavyweight Saturn Pluto conjunction in Capricorn coming within two days of a Lunar Eclipse in Cancer around mid-month. Saturn is concerned with limits and boundaries, can feel restrictive but has an important function in restoring order, promoting hard-work and self-discipline. Pluto oversees change and transformation though it has an unsavoury control-freak side which wants to dominate and it will attempt to block change that threatens to undercut its power. Saturn Pluto can be repressive though it also fosters grit, perseverance and the ability to endure.

The Capricorn Sun around as usual in January until the 20th brings the usual materialistic slant to life, promotes initiative and ambition and pushes to produce tangible achievements. Though even its determined spirit will labour slightly under Saturn and Pluto’s sombre influence.

Mars in Sagittarius from the 3rd will fire up discussions with a free and frank exchange of opinions and some adventurous plans being floated for a time when there is more elbow room for manoeuvre.

Venus in Aquarius till the 13th will bring moments of friendly sociability; and thereafter in sensitive Pisces will float along a separate track avoiding contact with unpleasantness and difficulties. Gradually the shift over to airy Aquarius after mid-month will lighten the mood with group activities favoured and an optimistic forward-looking mood. Uranus will cast aside any attempt to block free choice on the 23rd and if necessary will cause a minor disruption to ensure everyone can take an independent stance.
