Mike Bloomberg – maybe yes maybe no

Mike Bloomberg, the billionaire former three-times mayor of New York City, is contemplating a possible 2020 presidential campaign, reversing his decision earlier in the year, though he hasn’t firmly decided yet. His concern is that the current crop of Democratic presidential candidates are not up to defeating Trump. Bloomberg is a divisive figure not least because of his conspicuous wealth and he would be a disruptive influence on the already overcrowded field, being a centrist and former Republican. His concern is almost certainly that Joe Biden’s candidacy has been damaged by the financial connections of his son Hunter. Although no corruption has been proved, the optics are bad. Mike Bloomberg, 14 February 1942 3.40 pm Brighton, Massachusetts, is a stubborn, stalwart and enduring 8th house Sun and Moon in Aquarius square Mars Saturn Uranus in Taurus; with Mercury and Venus also in Aquarius and Venus opposition Pluto in Leo which makes eight planets in Fixed signs so not much flexibility but endless stamina. He does have tr Uranus square his Pluto now suggesting a turnaround or upheaval and that repeats into early 2020. But what will almost certainly put paid to his chances is the tr Pluto Saturn conjunction opposition his Mars/Neptune midpoint which will bring a sense of plans dissolving and that runs on and off through the year, especially February, July/August and late November/December. It’s never a winner that aspect at elections. Advertisements

Mike Bloomberg – hopes dashed

Mike Bloomberg, 11th richest man in the world and three-time mayor of New York, is considering pitching his hat into the ring as Democrat candidate for 2020. The news has not been greeted with much joy since he’s seen as out of touch with the political moment – white, centrist Wall Street billionaire, not entirely in tune with #metoo – while the party is moving leftwards. Born 14 February 1942 3.40 pm Brighton, Massachusetts, he has four planets in Aquarius – his Sun in the financial 8th conjunct the Moon, as well as Mercury and Venus which all sit in his 7th. He’s also got a heavyweight collection of Mars, Saturn, Uranus in Taurus in his 10th – aggressively ambitious, good executive material, quite autocratic. He looks frustrated and blocked exactly now, with dashed hopes through 2019 and 2020 – so looks unlikely.  His Solar Return from February 2019 looks successful, but from February 2020 his career/life’s direction is directionless and undermined.

Mike Bloomberg – inspiring America to bite back

100 businesses, 80 university presidents, three governors and 30 mayors have so far announced their intention to stick with the Paris climate program, with former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg leading the charge. He said after speaking to Emmanuel Macron that “The American government may have pulled out of the agreement, but the American people remain committed to it.” California’s governor Jerry Brown has flown to China to talk about co-ordinating new green technologies being produced by Chinese manufacturers to the state’s strict environmental standards. “California will resist,” he said and he has been joined by New York governor Andrew Cuomo vowing to stick to the Paris commitments regardless of moves by the Trump administration. For every action, there’s a reaction and the blowback on this looks likely to be considerable. Mike Bloomberg, 14 Feb 1942 3.40pm Brighton, Mass, has a very fixed and enduring chart, with a New Moon in Aquarius in the 8th and Mercury Venus also in Aquarius; plus a megaton collection of Mars Saturn Uranus in Taurus in his 10th; plus Pluto in Leo in his 1st. Not a man for turning or tangling with. His Mars Saturn Uranus are all sitting on top of Trump’s Midheaven, so he could inflict a deal of damage and change the course of his career. Bloomberg’s Sun opposes Trump’s Mars, so a definite clash. Bloomberg does look frustrated and in the mood for a fight with tr Pluto trine his 10th house Mars in 2017/18; though there’ll be setbacks…

Michael Bloomberg – a wild card maybe

Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire, former Mayor of New York, is considering whether to run as an independent for the US Presidential election. An independent candidate has never won but his reasoning appears to be if it turned out to be Bernie Sanders versus Trump or Cruz he might have a chance. Born 14 Feb 1942 3.40pm Brighton, Massachusetts, he has an 8th house New Moon in Aquarius square a 10th house Mars Saturn Uranus in Taurus. With Mercury and Venus also in Aquarius with Venus opposition Pluto in Leo. So tremendously Fixed. He did run New York for three consecutive terms on a bi-partisan basis, so has more experience certainly than Trump. He’s got a lift from tr Uranus conjunct his Sun/Jupiter midpoint late Feb through March, which is when he is expected to make his decision. But that then disappears and he’s got the tr Neptune square tr Saturn hitting his Jupiter at 11 degrees Gemini from mid April through till September which will dampen his enthusiasm.

Twitter’s Jack Dorsey under attack

‘Vulture capitalist’, ‘rogue creditor’, ‘uniquely adversarial’, ‘thuggish’, ‘uses distasteful tactics’ are all epithets ascribed to hedge-funder Paul Singer who appears to have Twitter’s co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey firmly in his sights. A billionaire, Singer’s Elliott Management has bought a chunk of Twitter and seemingly objects to Dorsey sharing his attention with the mobile payments company Square, of which he is also co-founder. Singer is immensely profitable and impervious to public disapproval, infamous for buying sovereign debt from countries nearing default like Argentina, Peru and the Republic of Congo and pursuing full payment through the courts. Critics says such tactics interfere with a country’s ability to return to the financial markets, exacerbating the poverty and suffering of its citizens. When he takes on a battle he usually (always, they say) wins. Last year he bought into ebay and eight months later the CEO resigned, having refused to accede to Singer’s demands. Jack Dorsey 19 November 1976 1.43 am St Louis, will be a formidable and unbudgeable adversary with his Sun Mars in Scorpio opposition Jupiter in Taurus; and Uranus also in Scorpio square Saturn in Leo. Not an easy man to push out of the way. Except that he does have his Solar Arc Pluto conjunct his Sun at the moment and conjunct his Mars by next year; as well as Solar Arc Sun Mars square his Pluto over the next two years, all of which look frustratingly trapped. So it’ll be a mighty tussle which he may not…

Democratic marathon – hurdles and mud holes

This is only a flying look at the near future of some of the Democratic top candidates as they trail round the endless and stultifyingly tedious campaign trail. Bernie Sanders appears to be leading just at the moment. Tr Neptune square his Jupiter from late March and through April may puncture his enthusiasm since it tends to deflate over confidence. He’ll have some ups late April but he’s struggling against tr Pluto square his Mars all year and indeed his Solar Arc Pluto opposing his Mars on the same degree within weeks – both of which are blocked. Peter Buttigieg has the usual swings and roundabouts of a long and punishing campaign with a disappointing tr Neptune square his Sun/Jupiter from late February to late March at the same time as tr Saturn is conjunct his Capricorn Sun. He’ll get some lift from tr Uranus opposition his Jupiter (on his Midheaven) in late May/early June and across the election. Mike Bloomberg, has one sparkler of success and that comes in July with tr Uranus conjunct his Jupiter/Midheaven midpoint (birth time being absolutely accurate). But he’s also got a failed-plans tr Pluto opposition his Mars/Neptune midpoint on and off all year which isn’t great. Amy Klobuchar may spring a surprise or two as she picks up a ‘lucky break’ tr Pluto square her Jupiter/Uranus midpoint late February to early July. Though she also has less useful influences as well. Joe Biden isn’t in a happy situation and has a raft…

Central Park Five – repercussions still rippling

One of the most high profile miscarriages of justice in the USA in recent times in 1989 was the Central Park Five – five underage black and Hispanic teenagers were charged with rape and attempted murder despite their DNA not being found on the victim; and confessions were coerced out of them. Trump took out a full-page ad calling for the death penalty. Republican commentator Pat Buchanan insisted that if only “the eldest of that wolf pack were tried, convicted and hanged in Central Park and the 13- and 14-year-olds were stripped, horsewhipped, and sent to prison, the park might soon be safe again for women.” They were imprisoned and only set free when another rapist imprisoned for other crimes admitted to it 12 years later and his DNA matched. He said he was the only attacker. Michael Bloomberg, then Mayor of New York, resisted paying the five compensation but subsequently the next Mayor Bill de Blasio did agree. A recent Netflix series When They See US has brought it back into the spotlight again.  The head prosecutor who oversaw the case and observed the police interrogations at the time was Linda Fairstein, now a crime novelist. In light of this recent publicity she has had her publishing contract withdrawn. Her wiki write-up contains another case in which malicious prosecution was alleged; and her part in not having Dominique Strauss Kahn charged with sexual assault in 2012. Born 5 May 1947 Fairstein is a tough Sun Taurus square Pluto, with…
