Prince Harry – much heat, less thought

Prince Harry’s rant against the media has sparked off a critical backlash, ruining the generally positive publicity from his and Meghan’s Africa trip. No one objects to a legal response to the printing of a private letter between Meghan and her father, since there are copyright infringements involved. But the additional screech, against all internal Buck House advice it is said, comparing Meghan’s situation with his paparazzi-hounded mother Diana is pushing the envelope.

Early adverse publicity was down to Meghan’s family and badly handled at Harry’s end and all the recent brickbats have been their own doing – expensive home renovation at taxpayer expense, frequent air jaunts while wearing virtue badges about saving the planet etc.

If he pushes it much further he’ll be smartly told to give up his Royal title and privileges and retreat into quiet anonymity. Everything comes at a price and being Royal requires at least a truce being signed with the media.

He does have a fairly dogmatic and over-reactive chart with a deeply buried 8th house Mercury in Virgo trine Jupiter, sextile Pluto and square Uranus – so he will tend to amplify situations and speak before he thinks; and the same goes with an 8th house Virgo Sun in an impulsive and combative square to Mars and trine Neptune.

He is in an unusually intense mood at the moment with his Progressed Moon going through his 8th house for another two years; plus a panicky, undermined tr Neptune square his Mars till mid November and for a final time mid December to late January 2020. His Progressed Mars is now sitting on his Ascendant which will also ramp him up. And earlier this year, when Archie was born, he had an aggravated Solar Arc Saturn conjunct his Mars – when the bizarre birth and baptism ducking-and-diving raised eyebrows.

He also has tr Saturn moving into his lower profile First Quadrant from this year until the late 2020s so he will want to step back anyway and might be well advised to steer clear of the limelight. Meghan, on the other hand, is just winding up a head of steam with tr Saturn moving above her Descendant to take on more responsibility and become more visible.

She’ll end up with the same problem as Diana – wanting to use the media to publicise her good causes and privacy for anything that doesn’t suit her – which isn’t how it works.

  1. It’s Black History Month here in the UK. Much of this history is hidden or has been overlooked (rather like women’s history). Perhaps when Saturn (history) enters Aquarius (humanity) we will see an increase in the work already being done to correct this imbalance. There were black African Roman soldiers here in the 2nd century, and records of black people living, loving, and working here for over five hundred years. https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/pathways/blackhistory/index.htm

Yes there is racism towards Meghan. However, I think some of the criticism stems from her American celebrity sensibilities and habits. Royalty has been lampooned and criticised for centuries, which doesn’t make it right, but this isn’t new.

  2. I am a black woman born in Britain of Commonwealth parents. I have lived in several cities in the US since the age of 19 and now live in Britain again. What I do not like about Meghan is that she seems to view everything through the prism of US racism which is not the same as here. She really hasn’t lived here long enough to truly know what the UK version is like and having NOT ONE relation here — they did her family tree and can’t find a black relative here — I really do not think she is qualified to tell us what the experience is. If she did have a relative who could tell her what they have experienced over the last 50yrs, then maybe.. Thankfully we do not have the same issues as the US and she did not classify herself as black nor did she have much interaction with black people past her teenage years. Where was she during Black Lives Matter, for instance? She did not even send a tweet but she did tweet about Brexit during the same time period when she wasn’t living here and had just started seeing Harry. I do not appreciate her employing her race when it’s convenient for her — I find that exploitative. She seems to be “borrowing” others’ experiences, which is what actors do, I guess. Harry ought to be educating her and defending this country, not enabling her. And I do hope that those defending the allegations of racism towards her do take time to measure it against the very real and very different experiences of black Americans and that they do not try too hard to incorporate American attitudes over here.

    • Thank you Barb!

What many Americans don’t know is that during World War II, US had to educate/inform their own soldiers about the difference how the Brits conduct towards their soldiers of different race. It was a shock for US soldiers from for example Alabama how British white girls had no problems dancing with black soldiers. Also that British black soldiers were not seggregated from British white soldiers. I’ve seen a couple documentaries of this issue and they are really eye opening.
Also black people could go in London to the finest restaurants or hotels, compared to US no matter how famous you were you had to use kitchen entrance.

    • I think Black American racism is in a league on its own. It is definitely misleading to think that all black people everywhere else experience racism like that. Which is definitely not the case but it seems to be often implied.

  3. Not a fan of royals or royalty, but the British media were not entirely without fault in their behavior since M was introduced into this sphere. It is easy to say others who married into this family went through similar, but underneath it all there is a whiff of racism that plays a part…a bit of how dare she…
There are lessons to learn and be learnt on all sides, as well as errors made on how certain situations were dealt with but we are all on the outside looking in…so who are we to judge or know the real situation. Lots of things get hidden away, and only come to light when the main principals are dead or no longer carry any relevance.

The press go on about these two, as not relevant, sixth to the throne etc if that’s the case focus on the main ones W&Ks…or is it because shock horror they are boring and bring nothing to the table, their work ethics being poor at best.

As for the use of tax payers money why pick on one when it applies to all of them… There are bigger scandals brewing…Andrews for one, and who knows what else. More will be exposed when EII passes.

H has a right to defend his family, and in this media age the relevance and reliance of the tabloids as a news source are fast dwindling as people turn to real world instant connectivity, and response. As access to H &M is limited and their reliance on social media to highlight their work and family on their terms, the British media lose their relevance on royal scoops and any access to make money, on exclusives, which I am sure is the main gripe underneath it all.

  4. I applaud Harry and Meghan for taking this bold step against these bullying tabloids. Time to stop the bullying, smear and lies about her that goes on for three years now, even when she was pregnant! This is not freedom of press but a clear violation of human rights. The global response from the general public and serious press on the statement/suit is very positive actually. Even confirmed by a Yougov poll. It’s no surprise that the backlash is restricted to the toxic tabloids and media involved. The Queen, Charles and William all sued the press in the past for illegally publishing private personal stuff and they won their suits. Meghan and Harry have the same right to sue the specific tabloid for posting her private letter without her consent! As an astrologer, I see their current charts in a totally different, more positive light. Of course we are entitled to our opinions.

  6. No one who knows any true actor personally is surprised by her. They’re like that. It’s all me me me. That’s how they do their job. It’s why a lot of us don’t marry them. Maybe over time she’ll realise that crossovers between celebrity and high royality, are for the most part, frowned upon in the UK.

But don’t bank on it. Old habits…

  7. Meghan doesn’t undersand the difference between Royals and celebrities. Also pre Harry Meghan was never a celebrity, never a household name. She was a d-list actress, therefore she hasn’t got a clue how an A-lister behaves.
A comparison Kate got heat during her first year for wearing clothes for 170 000 pounds, Meghan wore during her first year clothers for over 500 000 pounds. The Queen of Spain’s yearly clothing allowance is cirka 50 000 euros. Or course Meghan is going to get critique for spending. Wear cheaper clothes and British/Commonwealth brands… easy.
Just one last thought when people criticized Kate they were called jealous, now when you criticize Meghan for similar things, you are called a racist!

  8. I think only time will tell whether the couple will listen to advice and more importantly take it from those more experienced than they. They seem very focused on ‘ploughing’ their own way through which might work but I think that unlikely as they will put people’s backs up. It is a shame that they have put this statement out at the end of a successful tour and it makes me wonder whether it is true that they are their own worst enemies? I think it is interesting that some of the words used by Harry echo those used by George Clooney in defence of Meghan last winter. I think only time will tell whether Meghan will make a success of being part of the Royal Family or whether she will choose to return to the world of royal celebrities?

  9. I like Meghan a lot but that trip to new york for such an overprice baby shower was really tacky. I hope she starts acting more sensible.

  10. Kate got some really nasty and unfair publicity with the nickname ‘Waity Katy ‘ and worse, plus some vicious trolling, but she buttoned her lip, kept smiling, shaking hands, visiting schools and cutting ribbons, and the tide turned in her favour. Meghan needs to do the same and recognise that Royal duties are very tedious and more likely to involve a trip in the rain to an inner city than saving the planet and mixing with celebs. If she buttons her lip and gets on with some hard work to support the Queen, the British public will warm to her.
